    Hmmm... very odd.
If you have plenty of harddisk space I would create a new install in a different directory.
On my system I created a I:\Games\rFactor2\Beta-90 for the new build in place of the old I:\Games\rFactor2\Beta folder

That way you know it is a clean install.

I bought the game the second it went on sale but still haven't driven it with my g27 due to this reported issue. Don't want to risk damaging the wheel as I can't afford to replace it.
Is the issue still as bad as it was? Is ISI going to fix this or is it a logitech driver issue? If so do ISI know if logitech will fix this?

Not into the idea of dumbing down the FFB effects to stop rattling as that would detract from the feel.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Mark.

I've been using my g25 on it for the past few months and no damage or signs of degradation.

The components that produce the FFB affects will have been designed & manufactured to tolerate whatever output's it can produce. Anything to the contrary would be asking to have your customers constantly seek frequent replacements within the warranty period.

I really wouldn't worry about it, rf2's not going to break your wheel.

I cannot agree with the logic used here; since the gears will have specific life of n hours * load on each tooth.
The massive load on each tooth from excessive vibration when going off track will put a disproportionate amount of load on the small percentage of teeth use for the straight ahead steering position. Thus, the wheel will fail before its normal product life.

I agree that he should not worry now, because in Build 90 ISI has responded to user feedback and cured the massive vibration fault.

Answer= Get a Fanatec Wheel. The wheel feel achieved from combining rf2 and the GT3-RS wheel is outstanding. I have the luxury of having both wheels but had to put the G25 back in the box. One reason was, late at night if I'm up practicing nobody in the house can sleep;) add to that the next gen feel of the Fanatec and it was a no brainer.

I recently had a shifting problem with the GT3-RS wheel and had to wait a couple of days for some rubber inserts and put the G25 back on and was astounded at the difference. I simply didn't use the G25 and waited for my parts:rolleyes:

I have just purchased rFactor 2 beta and to my disappointment, I'm having the same issues many people have reported who own G25 wheels. It's absolutely undrivable, and I'm worried it's going to break my wheel.

I read about the Steering Torque fix by changing to "4", but when I change to 4 and it asks me to save changes, I press Yes, and then it says "Access is denied." What do I do? The game is working fine, I have installed mods without problems.

I've got my steering torque set to 8 and still getting rattling with rtrainer on mountain forest. I sure hope this is resolved before gold b/c this will be the straw that breaks the camels back. Rf1 was already 80% problem-solving 20% driving. If rf2 is 90% problem solving then trouble is ahead. Just calling it as I see it. Personally, I cannot afford this to be a major hobby and suspect others can't either. I sincerely believe that if some of the pain and horrible UI clunkiness (who designed this UI anyway? It's like they tried to make it as difficult as possible. A truly horrible embarrassment. When I show this to my friends...the friends I still have left after all the time I spent fiddling LOL... They all have this look on their faces like "what the hell is this crap Apple wanna be spinner UI crap? What a joke!") can be overcome rf2 could easily double or triple it's potential market b/c not everyone wants to be a computer & hardware engineer especially when AC will work outdo the box just like NKP. Seriously. Do you know how much fiddling I had to do with NKP? None. Zero. It was 100% fun,

I have a G25 and am not experiencing any issues like you guys are, but did have some issues early on. The first thing I tried was going back into the game controller settings and set it up in this way, very different to how all the recommended settings were in the other sims by having damper and spring at 0%. The way I see it this game uses all those effects to soften and dampen the harsh effects and I get great feel out of it this way even turning in game FFB to 1.5 in the GTR.

    Pedals reported as combined: unchecked

    Rotation 900

    Enable Force feedback: Checked

    Overall effects strength 99%

    Spring Effect Strength 99%

    Damper Effect Strength 99%

Centering spring in FFB game: Checked but 0%

Allow Game to adjust settings: Checked

Here is my controller.ini file which I have made a few little changes to

    http://www.mediafire.com/?9787fqqd7qzwv6a

Here is my modified G25 wheel settings as I use with the Nissan GTR at FFB 1.5 320 rotation. Other cars I play around with the effects multiplier and you may want to start out lower between .7 and .9

    http://www.mediafire.com/?n67eye977d9sh5g

My settings may not be for everyone but I think most people are having issues by disabling damping and spring to 0% which the game uses as part of its effects. I like to try out all things even if its not the way everyone else is doing it, and seeing so many are having issues maybe its time to stop trying the same things and use a completely different approach. You may be surprised by the result as I think the FFB is great in RF2, with my old settings as I used them in RF1 it felt harsh and very rough.

My G27 was unusable before changing settings. What helped me was setting Steering torque filter="24". I also changed Steering effects strength="6000.00000". Ingame i use 0.6-0.8 ffb settings.

If you installed in the default location and are using Vista or Windows 7, you are running into issues because of UAC or User Account Control courtesy of Microsoft. To get around the error you can run notepad as admin by typing notepad in the search box when you click on the windows button, then right click and choose properties. Once there, go to the compatibility tab and on the bottom should be a check box to run as admin. put a check there and then start notepad to edit and you should be able to save.

In order to avoid this issue in the future it might be a good idea to uninstall and then install somewhere else, like C:\Games or something like that. This way you avoid the UAC.

'K.. first off, are you opening this folder with Notepad: My Documents\rFactor2\UserData\Controller\Logitech G25 Racing wheel USB..?

If yes, then have you enabled "Admin Priviledges" (or whatever it's called) in your Windows OS? - yea, just seen Gearjammer's post - as he says :)

nb. I found a value of 4 was a waste of time - 28 does make a difference though, lol

I have the steering torque filter set at 0 with the settings I use above. Main reason is that this setting increases latency so there will be lag and thats kind of the last thing you want to be doing. I have no issues with the forces on a g25 so there are other ways around it that dont increase lag, I can even set FFB to 1.5 in game with no issues and fastest possible FFB responsiveness. If you go to a very high number then your going to get lots of FFB lag and at that point you may as well turn off FFB and just use the centering spring.

Steering torque filter="0" // Number of old samples to use to filter torque from vehicle's steering column (0-32, note that higher values increase effective latency)

Thank you everyone, running it as admin worked. I'm such a noob sometimes when it comes to this. I'll see if I can notice any improvements.

It is still shaking too much. I am going to try martymoose's settings.

I'm reinstalling the game, the FFB has gone very loose at the center, and the car just turns too quick causing me to spin. It's very light and then all of a sudden, I feel forces.

I changed the settings in the Controllers.ini.
After doing two tests on the track (clio, megane) it seems that the settings were resetted!
Is this a known problem? Or am I doing something wrong?

LOL. Sounds like ISI has delegated ffb configuration to beta testers. Maybe poster with "get a fanatec" answer is on to something. So now, you have to be a hardware engineer, software engineer, computer scientist and operating system support call center specialist to run rFactor.... Unless you are rich and can afford boutique equipment LOL. Of course the you will be developing a relationship with the mail man and support phone tree spaghetti and fanatec. LOL.
