Looking fantastic. How many completed cars are you aiming towards before you release the beta? Five, ten, more?
Hey ROON. We haven't really decided yet. I was thinking of maybe releasing something at 3-4 cars and then just expanding as each car gets done. This gives the community something to enjoy from an earlier period of time rather then having to wait for 5/10/or more cars to be ready. It would also give us a sense of what the community is looking for physic wise from the cars which will help us ensure the base release of future completed cars can be somewhat better from the get go and requiring less community testing/feedback. Ultimately we don't want the community to wait too long so this scenario may be the best for all involved. I'll keep you updated to the official decision we'll take in the coming week.
A lot of us thank you for considering "community" involvement (and then again, there is that other group who detest such stuff)
Funny thing is, 'that other group who detest that stuff', use all the freeware mods they can get their hands on, and then, more...
I don't know which group you guys are referring to. Here is some progress of the gauges and dash diamond plate swirl finish plate on the 1980 Pontiac Trans Am painted by Jack Hintz. Enjoy!
Hey guys, time for another update. Here is a look into the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Modeled, mapped and currently being painted by Condraciuc. The car is progressing well and will be included in the Classic Cars mod along with the El Camino he modeled. This is a look at the current progress so enjoy!
This is one of the rf2 mods that excites me the most & I would love to see any of the Toyota Celicas from: 1973: 1974: &/or (my favourite) 1976: make it into the mod.
do you know when the beta is going to start? i am soo excited about this mod! great work so far! (p.s.: i looked in your forum but there was no hint for a beta release date)
Yes, the 1973 Celica is a true classic that would make a great pair with Datsun 240Z, one of the greatest rally cars ever, winner of two Safaris etc etc here third in 1972 Monte Carlo, with the legendary Finn Rauno Aaltonen driving, with one of the top co-drivers of the era...Jean Todt !!!
@Magus: My brother owned one of those Celica's, before he smashed it to a pulp with a stop sign. Yep you heard right...He obliterated the thing with a stop sign when it wouldn't start in the mornings and no mechanic could figure out why. That is a car I would definitely like to see too. I'll add it to the request list on our forum. @driftlegende94: Right now our main ingame specialist is out of action. His motherboard died a few weeks ago and as it was still under warranty, he is waiting for the replacement to arrive which could take any amount of weeks. Once he gets a working motherboard back, he will begin adding the classic cars in game and we'll be working on base physics and sounds so we can release them. I will keep you all posted as to when that will be, as well as when our ingame guy has his motherboard back and is working on them again. @1959 Nikos: I'll be sure to add that to the list on our forums.
Nice ideas guys, the Celica and Datsun would be great! My mum's first ever car was a '74 Celica. EDIT: Seeing as we're all suggesting things, how about a 1962 Valiant Type-S? I can't hotlink since these images are all rights reserved on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50415738@N04/5105698133/in/pool-1625391@N20/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/50415738@N04/5105816431/in/pool-1960-1962valiants/
Datsun and Celica, that reminds me ICC mod by Lazytech that I got to test when it was just about starting, I wonder if he did complete it, but it is WIP in RFC http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Import%20Car%20Challenge%20(ICC) Don't know if he might want to share models for this mod and if models could work as a base, but maybe worth to give him a shout? If he can't be contacted via RFC, I have his email from 2006, not sure if it still is valid, though.
@jtbo: I've actually been trying to find a way to contact Lazytech for similar reasons but have not had any luck. Any help would be great indeed!
the datsun looks pretty good, would need some work to get it to our standards but overall the shape seems to be right. I once started to do this car but I don't know where I've put the model. [edit] found my model, passed it to Petros for someone else to finish.
If we are requesting cars here, hehe, how about this: http://rcd.typepad.com/personal/39_2Dfiat_2Dx19.jpg I used to own a 74 X1/9 and they are great fun to drive. They were also dominating in their class at one time.
