[WIP] 1971 Porsche 917K

I'm really surprised everyone on the forum isn't jumping on this, especially the people like durge who like the historics.

This is actually really well done especially for an alpha/beta. The sounds are great and the physics are very fun. I hotlapped with a buddy at bathurst for probably 4 hours straight

Only real "complaint" is that the windshield is quite dim, it lowers the brightness of a sunshine track to overcast. The windshield on the actual car is quite clear (when clean :P). And you're right lestrat, the real life car doesn't have particularly good/wide visibility, so I think that's pretty good so far

Do you need dimensions and measurements or actual rates? Like spring rate, roll bar rate etc? If you give a well defined list I can get it to their engineer

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I will try to sort out the windshield issue and upload a new versión today.

Regarding the measurements, the list of rates that I would need is:
- Spring rate, both front and rear.
- Roll bar rates, both front and rear. Adjustable?
- Shock absorber rates in slow bump, slow rebound, fast bump and fast rebound.
- Caster (min and max degrees it can be set)

I guess that, by now, those are all my needs :-)

If anyone can get in touch with chargingcar over at Assetto Corsa forum, maybe there's a chance. The guy is talented and may be able to step in.

This is looking and sounding amazing! Great project, I really hope folks who have the skills and know-how to progress this mod further, step forward. It's great to see more of these types of cars in rF2. :)

Hello simracers.

I would like to announce my first serious mod.

I have been working on this during my Christmas vacation and I would like for it to be community owned mod as my modding skills are quite poor and I will not be able to provide a perfect mod. But of course I will try to do my best.

I am using a Creative Commons licensed 3D model, created by godofbigthings

Update [Aug 8th '15]
I'm sharing what I got until now.

Physics-wise I'm quite satisfied, but 3D is not my best as you may see.

Car does not have lods, therefore it's very FPS heavy.

Howdy,

Is this a valid download location? When I try to download, I get this message; "Cannot decrypt metadata without key."

I would love to have these cars on the F3 Fanatics' server.

Thanks for your work.

Bryan

Anyone who wants to continue working on it, please feel free to do so.

I don't even need to be credited for it as long as it's for rFactor2

I will try to upload it somewhere else when I'm back home.

hey lestrat, any update on the windshield? Waiting for my buddy and his engineer to get back in the country and I should be able to get the data

I have not been able yet to solve the windshiel issue.

I'm going for vacation a couple of weeks but will solve it when I'm back.

Thanks for your help mate.

hope you're having a good vacation! When you return, there seems to be a very strange bug in the windshield with the new rfactor build, After updating the build, this is what I get when I try to drive the car anywhere - sucks because this is currently my favorite car to drive :) . Also seeing my friend this weekend in person and I'm speaking to him about the car data

That's a weird issue.

Next monday I will be back home and will be able to work on the mod. I have been thinking about the windshield and I guess I know how to solve the (former) issue.
