good to hear! Anyone know of a quick way to remove the windshield altogether (editing a few lines maybe?) I just really wanna drive the car again

 

That looks like a weird rendition of curb/white line/tarmac on the windshield texture

 

yeah it shows the ground in front of the car in a crazy wrap-around fisheye type of view. we named it the benadryl car

 

OK, so interestingly it looks like the above bug only happens in multiplayer. In singleplayer the windshield is normal. very odd!

 

Finally met up with my buddy and he thinks it shouldn't be a prob to get the measurements, he passed the requested list onto their engineer. Let's hope chassis #16 provides! http://i.imgur.com/nrIBZzb.jpg

Now if only someone could fix the windshield so it worked with the latest build I spent about 4 hours digging through all the windshield DDS files and making them all transparent in photoshop, but I'm a total noob when it comes to textures/modeling and nothing I did fixed the issue

If someone could step in and donate a little bit of time on the modeling to help lestrat out I think this could be an amazing mod, especially after they get some real data into it. It already drives amazing

I have tried to solve the windshield issue with gJED, but no success by now.

I hope I will have enough time during the weekend to solve the issue.

A brief status update.

Graphycal modelling is being completely redone.

I enclose a few screenshots in 3DS of both the 36000 poly model and 170000 poly model.

Smooth stuff. I watched something with Brian Johnson from AC/DC where he got to go to the Porsche factory and drove a replica of the 917, built with the original parts. Such a stunning car.

Looking good. I don't think you really need the 170k poly model though. Especially if it's only an empty body shell. The 36k one should be good enough to be the "A" lod model.

 

I have been obsessed reading about this car and watching videos of this car ever since i first saw it... One of my all time favourite racing cars. Thanks for another video i can add to the playlist of awesome!
