On overclocking you really think 4770K needs it for single screen 1920 with GTX780 OC ?

I would like tj to get full accustom to bios and tweak drivers and all the crap they give you first.

Get some baseline benches and a bit of burn in tests etc

Yeah I do not like any management or thermal controls turbo etc rather fixed clocks.

We see what tj thinks of performance vs a AMD+6000 and GTX470 loool

His bottleneck obviously is hardrive Green 1TB but i run mine with spare Sata primary drive for other stuff I have it runs fine once its booted

Nice buy would be Kingston or similar 60GB m-sata plug straight into the Mobo , they are cheap 50 pounds I believe and enough room to Run slim W7 office cad and photoshop

Tj's 3DMark2006 seems low to me ( temps are great )

Maybe bios settings he has done nothing yet.

He got abit over 30K first run.

    With a GTX670 OC I got 32K

    However I have i5 @ 4.5GHz clockspeeed for that which is worth a good 5-6K in 3dMark

Still his SM2/SM3 is a lot lower then mine , must be a reason other then the overclock.

    Take note mate too!

Your CPU is higher score with stock clocks then mine at 5GHZ ( that is smokin hot :) )

Just something up with settings I would think.

Rather him not worrying about games till he gets sorted.

tj can you pls run a 3dmark11 to compare with me in that you should trounce my score. even with stock clocks.

    3DMARK11 - P 5,919 ( at 5.0GHz) ................... 5GHz remember is huge increase in 3dmarks

YES PEOPLE dur .............I know I know !!!

Any 3dmark is not important games test persay.........

BUT IT IS AGAINST other combos for a BASELINE RESULTS !

so get off my case plus its great for stability and thermal testing ............and rF2 is DX9 .............so there hehehehe

Like if you ran at 4.2GHz I would say you would get auto 35K

When I look at Hall of Fame that seems like a pretty decent baseline for a GTX780 with OC i7 . ( and most on there have both OC CPU and GPU )

Like I say a direct compare at same settings with someone has a 4770K and a GTX780 in rFactor2 will be a much better compare then any 3dmarks that is for sure and certain ! ;)

But like I said it is excellent for stability and loop and thermal testing when running in a new tower :)

@tjc... How's the new system running?
That 1K price quoted in the first post is great...especially for Europe and a system comprised of a GTX780.

    PM to tj after

My thoughts on OS and build success ................. but with no heavy tweaking and cranking as of yet.

" We've only just begun to live,
    White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way. ( don't think sooo !!! ) loool
    We've just begun

Before the rising sun we fly
    So many roads to choose

We start out walking and learn to run.
And yes, We've just begun. "

    hahahahahahaha :p

Someone please give tj a list for best things to stop a HDD banging on ( his older Sata is a bit noisy )

He says his sata HDD LED goes crazy

Sounds to me in part like a untweaked bios, management and OS in a very fast system vs a slower hardrive. :)

But I too tired, brains too fried ( see POST ABOVE ) lopl

    Do a help list pls.

He now got an excuses to buy an SSD HD :p.
With his Hard drive in AHCI mode, a feature of that is 'Native Command Queuing' NCQ. Check out the pics on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Command_Queuing,
As you can see the HD head has to move a lot more compared with no NCQ. Maybe why he getting more noise. Don't think banging is normal but :p.

Thanks for the link DJC, I`ll have a read...

I`ll be getting a SSD asap man, that`s for sure.

I`d hardly describe it as "banging" :D just a little more noisy than it was before and (from memory) definitely seems to be more HDD activity than there was before...

Might be just as D says though and the HDD is too slow for the new build.

    We`ll see...
