[REL] Bathurst 1985

Ok here we go, I'm happy to share this and I'm sure they work fine because they do work perfect. It's a collection of planes, so somewhere it should have the 1,2,3,4 number as well. In my example it's a full forest with 1800K vertices or 450 trees.

Could not find much myself but this info took me 3 days to figure it all out. Works fine on my WIP Falkenbergs Motorbana.

Interesting, or did Mike not clicked the right BB export setting? Maybe my image is wrong, but I found it somewhere in my private collection because I'm on my work. Will check tonight how it's done on a project I have been working on with a lot BB trees. Will remove my post if invalid.

That may be where I went wrong with mine....not sure how to change the vertex number/order.....

The one Redapg sent works, but it is very dark and hard to resize. So I am still learning here...:D

So.........I have an idea.........

I said Bathurst would be my last track....but......I am looking at making Adelaide International Raceway from scratch as the LIDAR data is free and the track is still there.

Then I though of doing the whole 1985 season of the ATCC. 10 tracks. I would need to ask for permission to convert many to 1985 spec and that would save a lot of time. And also set up something to try and get some money to help cover some of the time involved.

What are peoples thoughts?

This is the basic LIDAR mesh....

I for one would love to see the 85 season so many great tracks that no longer exist, Adelaide, amaroo and surfers international would all be great additions to rf2 ….

no pressure Mike :-)

I'd say only do Adelaide to the same level of completion of Bathurst instead of expanding to a grander project so soon. If you're still excited about more tracks after finishing Bathurst and making good progress with Adelaide (which has a nice little park/walking area you could "borrow" and make another homage to your wife), then look into the next - like Surfer's Paradise. Bathurst and Adelaide would cover two fantastic circuits at a quality we're sorely missing in rFactor 2. Getting two, maybe three excellent ones is more meaningful and may inspire others.

The way I do with fresh 3D, just rotate the plane till the numbers are correct,
can be you need to flip it as well so the 3D is showing the correct side.

The way I see it when you select the export BB setting is that it grabs the center point of both lowest and highest vertex numbers.

3 2 ---- 10 9 and so on work perfectly fine here..
4 1 ---- 11 8

I wonder who invented this complex or non logic order but I guess there is a reason for it :D

Example with one tree, pay attention to vertice colors as well ;)

And another extra thing to check is where the triangulation is starting at bottom (1 to 3)

If you are in edit mode and clone the mesh you can make as many trees as you want.

The Appearance (to dark....) is probably caused by the used Shader and the Material Settings.
But what is the Problem with resizing it?
You can edit the Poly and remap the UVW in any Way you like/need to have. ;)

That is also what i thought, when i did see it the first Time. :)

Looking at old Adelaide Int Raceway videos and the big mounds of dirt were not there in the 1980s. Very flat.
Hope to do a very basic track soon.

Bathurst is still being worked on. Next release may be the last big one, (0.75 or something) so there will be a bit of a gap before then......
Adding trees along the river and outer terrain. It is starting to look pretty good.

Hunting for work at the moment but the track work continues.
