Thx for this great update. The ai can handle the cars now. I was disappointed i couldn't use this mod because i played only offline and it was a crash fest for the ais especially on le grand circuit and spa 66. Now I succeed to have a 10 laps race on le grand circuit with 512 CL and 45 ai drivers with no continuous crashes from ai. Same thing with Matra on Spa 66.
I am ashamed to say that I haven't tested this mod yet... lol... a common theme recently, unfortunately, but how is the braking? Could it be a bit too competent? Also, is the track width the same as in '71? Are you riding the modern curbs or doing old school lines? That could account for a bit of the differential too.
The track width is unchanged since 71. Obviously the surface is newer. The current lap record is 1:04 in modern high downforce machinery. Braking may be a little too efficient.
But the racing line with the different curbs is also different, so there's probably around 2 seconds there due to loss of momentum in some sections. So there is probably a cumulative set of small points contributing to the much faster laptimes (but tyres are probably #1).
The tires from Goodyear & Firestone had progressed immensely from the mid 60's which is when the ISI Lola/Howston was based. So we should expect decent tire performance for the time period he's covering. Testing at just one track, even if it is a track the tester has personal knowledge of, will often over/under balance handling. Sim track records (no matter what title we are talking about) are often well below the actual real world times.
I just drove the 71 sportcars at Hockenheim in 1966. I drive the 917 Elfort. In training (free), the Ki always goes to the pits after a lap so that there is no Ki time. During the race, the Ki also goes to the pits to refuel after a lap. I'm already alone. Is this due to Hockenheim66 or the Ki. I just noticed.
thx Ricky Law, we will have a Look, but i'm not sure if this is significant, the grip from the tires are ok, they are on the same level as the original tires
The times I did in the BT44 are on 1975 tires, supposedly. There they should be a few seconds faster than 1975 tires. 1.08 on 1971 tires IS significantly faster than 1.14.
Yes it is, this Car filmed Scenes in the real le mans race 1970 for the Movie Le Mans with Steve McQueen
Hi I've just done the first laps of the track with this mod...very interesting! I've only tested the 2 69 cars I notice that the oil and water temperature indications on the hud are wrong and do not correspond to the indications on the dashboard, which themselves are wrong ! The needle on the oil gauge, for example, is immediately at 100/120°. Or the hud water stays at 60 for a very long time and goes down even when there is a straight line at full load! Also, the tyre noise is too much too soon (especially on the Lola) and even in a straight line! Well done for your work, I'll keep testing... Hoping to find this mod in online races...
Definitely a track issue. I don't know for sure but it seems when 397 makes changes to "enhance" the AI, some 3rd party tracks have issues like this. After the last couple of updates I've noticed the AI behavior you describe at Sandverde also. And that was after it was patched last year because of AI crashing in the pit lane which began after a 397 update. I'm not sure if this is universal or just an issue with Sergio's tracks.
