Chris, I have worked on the TCL mod for many years updating and rebuilding the various files including the Engine.ini. It has only recently started giving me problems with the cars inability to change gears beyond 3rd gear. I tried a few fixes that did not work until i used your online tool to make an RF2 style engine.ini. This cured it, i did the rest of the cars but some still did not change up beyond 3rd gear. I looked at the RF1 engine files for these non working cars and found these were the ones with the added headers similar to this: //ask permission before you edit or copy //350 bhp @ 6500rpm, 430 Nm @ 4500rpm I removed these lines and redid the RF2 version and the cars changed gear correctly. I had assumed the script expected Data to be in certain place and the added // lines had moved them. Perhaps my assumtion is wrong. The new engine.ini file created appears to have nothing new added.
@philrob Thank you for reporting. I'll try to reproduce it and if it happens here too, i will fix it.
@philrob Here it works as it should. Can you please upload a zip File, with an rF1 Engine.ini that failed to be converted and it's related rF1 hdv and Gears ini? And which Browser do you use?
This one has not been updated yet, i forgot it. But it is showing the problem in game. I use Firefox and have never had any problems with your scripts to the best of my knowledge. https://www.mediafire.com/file/sve3d8zhu57w1gd/RF1engine.rar/file
Thank you for uploading. I have tested it and i get the attached new ini that works in DevMode (remove the .txt at the End of the File Name). Do you get a different one when you convert the Volvo Engine.ini? Can you please upload a Set of rF1 Files + the converted Engine.ini, with that the converted Engine.ini doesn't work?
I have just converted the same Volvo engine to RF2 and it works well, even after leaving the // comments in the original. I notice a couple of differences with your file and mine. I used the Turbo option at 2.1270 cc ( real life figures) and i see you used LaunchVariables=7 //0-3 defines level of traction control used, add 4 to enable autoshift. I am not sure what this 7 option achieves ? ( autoshift) i usually use 0 as few of the cars had any traction control. So it seems my find of the // comments causing problems may have been wrong, although redoing the engine files certainly allowed the cars to change gears past 3rd ? ?
@philrob I did set Launchvariables to 7, just to give it a Value. To make a senseful Test, i would need to have: - The Mod, where the rF1 Format Engine.ini has commented first Lines and where the converted Engine.ini didn't work. - The 3 necessary rF1 Files (hdv, Engine.ini and Gears.ini, all MUST be rF1 Format!), that i can convert it too. - And the Information what didn't work. E.g. the new ini wasn't written properly or the new Engine.ini also didn't allow the AI to shift in higher Gears than the 3rd.... That is the only Way, to find out what goes wrong.
@philrob It would be great if you could do that. As said, a Set of Files, with that the Conversion didn't work properly, are the only Way, to find out what the Problem is.
Chris, i have searched for the Rf1 engine files that had given me trouble in creating the RF2 versions.I am sorry but they have long gone in the bin and been deleted. Sorry if my suggested fix has caused you a headache.
Just as an Information: I've fixed a Problem in the Tool "Change the Power of a rFactor 2 naturally aspirated Engine", that caused a massive Drop off in the Power and Torques Curves, when a new Power Value higher than 999 was selected. Thank you for reporting it @DWDDon
PLEASE NEVER EVER send me Money by Paypal or similar Services (that i don't use anyway). That Money will be lost i fear. What i do is for free. It is my Hobby and i don't take Money for it.
Please apologise my (maybe) dumb question...is there a tool wich repair not proper connected pit lanes?
Hello Jürgen, no, at least not from me. In which Way "not properly connected", can you send me an Example AIW?
Passing the Pitlane on track trigger allways yellow flag and it seems, the AI dont find their way into te pitlane...I have send you the AIW.
Just as an Information: I fixed a Problem in the Script, that shows your Public IPv4 and IPv6, where the correct IPv4 wasn't shown anymore. I now get it from another Website, so it can last a Moment to get the Site being fully loaded and the IPv4 being shown.
Just as an Information: I've updated the Tools, to edit the player.JSON, Multiplayer.JSON and CustomPluginVariables.JSON, to match Build 1133, Build ID 11262531. I did remove all Settings that can be made in a Menu. If you encounter any Problems, please report here. Thank you for using my Tools.
Just as an Information: Sometimes, my eMail Service GMX decides to handle Mail as Spam, that was handled as normal Mail before. And because i use a 3rd Party Mail Software to grab my Mail from the GMX Server, i'm not always aware of it and so it can happen, that you don't get a Reply. Whenever you don't get a Reply to a Mail that you did send to me, contact me here please. You can be sure that, if you don't get a Reply, there went something wrong, because as long as i'm present here, i'll always answer.
