You can change profiles in single player as well as the online way so don't worry about that, but the setting is not persistent as some tracks don't have the same HDR profiles.

If you click on settings once you are on track, at the bottom of the first tab is where you can choose an HDR profile as long as there is one made for the track you are on.

@ Tim / ISI, isn't the rear tyre fitted the wrong way around??? I would expect the profile to be in the other direction?!?

 

hmm this is a pic from 2012, which doesn't necessarily say something about which iteration of the rain tire this is, but the thread design looks completely different.

That would appear to whisk water towards the car. Maybe it is done on purpose to not spray other drivers? But that makes no sense because everyone is driving single file.

Either way those tire grooves need to be modeled and not just textured. At lease get them put in with normals.

Good point Feels, glad someone picked up on that little aspect of things,

 

Everyone would just need to do 8 different models for different amounts of wear and then one or two to put flatspotting in.

Not THAT much work..

 

The point about the 3D modeling is that with the proper use of textures and procedural maps you can create a believable depth of tread on a perfectly smooth surface so why waste time creating multiple 3d models and how would you implement a change in models as the car is driven?

 

Sorry for late reply: Yes, you can do it in SP as I play mostly in it only. You select the car, the track, go to it and after the loading screen in the "lobby screen" or your garage, you´ll see the "Settings" options under the "chat section". Click in it and you´ll see some options, the last one says "HDR Profiles". Change it and voila.

Some tracks come with it and some others don´t.

 

I need a launcher for my launcher lol. I have to use different settings for different track and mod combos and am constantly having to reload tracks b/c I forget to turn HDR on/off, etc. for example with Lola or Portugal and some tracks I can run twice as many cars b/c good optimization, etc., etc. now that I think about it this will never completely go away so would be cool to have a way to save certain settings for track/car combos.

Running on my rig -- everything at max -- 3 screens - 5760 x 1080 -- 30fps at start at back of 21 car grid of GT-R machines, rising to ~ 60 fps after a couple of laps.

Promise to lower the height of the screens soon! Pivothead camera over exaggerated the contrast too because of the lighting. Cockpit has much more variance.
