If it's 1084, It's probably ok to copy anything over from your non-Steam UserData folder to your Steam install.

If you ever run into to any issues with your Steam install, for example after carrying over files, you can remove the problematic files and "verify integrity of the game cache" and repair. Steam will replace all the files/folders you removed.

    Hi, all.
Is it possible to disable the auto-update of rF2 on Steam?
As i understand, the rF2 will close if the Steam client is updated.
Is it possible to disable the auto-update of the Steam client.
    Thanks.

    Hi :)

Just a short question. The name I used in Steam games was Art Pereira though my real name is Arturo Pereira. I changed "Art Pereira" to "Arturo Pereira" in my Steam profile and also edited the player.JSON file so that the player name is set to "Arturo Pereira".
However, each time I launch rF2 through Steam the name of the player is still Art Pereira.

Is there a way to change this?

It might be that it's reading your .name file if you had non-Steam installed before.

    Close rF2

Browse to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\.rFactor and backup or delete the file rFactor.name

    Then re-open rF2

Not that I'm aware of. You could use Steam in offline mode. I can also decline an update till later I believe. I can't think of game that straight closes the game due to a Steam update however.

Sorry, but i only play online.
I ask this thinking on my league.
I can avoid the updating of the server using the SteamCMD. But how can we avoid the update of the rF2 of the pilots of my league. It would be a problem if rF2 would update the day of one race, and we have several races a week. It's only a matter of time that this happens.
I don't remember where i've read this. But in any case, an update of Steam could change the focus from rF2 to the Steam Client and this, freezes rF2 most of the time.

You can still play online even if you have steam in offline mode AFAIK. I can try when I get home.

There is an option in Steam to not keep the game up to date. I've yet to personally use it but this would stop the game from automatically updating. I'm not sure how it applies to workshop content though.

I'm also trying to think of a situation personally where steam updates have happened in the midst of gameplay that have cause a game to stop working/crashing that's not related to using the steam server browser. Something rf2 uses but we are assuming you're already in game, on track. from current memory a Steam update has only appeared after iv closed a game.

It's hard to test Specifically so I'm using my own steam experience.

Maybe if you choose one of the available builds under preference->betas directly. Not sure though.

Yes, that is how leagues that want to stay on a particular Build will need to do it.

We are using the last build. I suppose that the current build will not be in the beta's place, but if i can play in offline mode this is ok to prevent the updating of rF2.

The second point (the update of Steam):
I'm not telling that Steam is the cause of a rF2 crash, but there is a well known bug in rF2 that freezes it when loses the focus. This doesn't happen in all the computers, but it's very common. In our league all the people stop the updates of the OS, antivirus, etc, to avoid this.
The people who drives endurance races will know about it.
I've seen in the Steam forum this:
    Have anyone tested it?

Well then, I clearly haven't checked the properties dialog box recently, did not realize you could not force it not to update, it's just a matter of when. I have to thank ISI for the separate builds in the beta's tab then.

    Hi, all.
Yesterday night, i activated the offline mode.
When i tried to connect to our server the list of the matchmaker was empty. There was any server in the list
    Am i doing something wrong?
    Is it working for someone?

And when i turned to online mode the list of servers was full again, off course.

    Thanks.

You can connect to a server without using the matchmaker list. I'm sure that's explained around here somewhere, maybe someone in your league can help.
