The most important aspect of this release for me is the relief that the superlative quality of the handling and FFB on the USF2000 was not an anomaly. We now have a second car from S397 that hits it out of the park. Thrilling to drive, as it should be, but also a supremely capable race car. That's how it drives and how it feels, so I can't ask for any more in that regard.
On the flip side, the bonnet view malfunctioning reflections that plague every rF2 car remind us how much we're going to enjoy the new graphics update next year! And the cars can't make it through the chicane at Tiger Moth R1. I don't know if there is a broader issue with the GT500 AI, but that just happened to be the track I was already using with the USF2000, so thought it best to try out the GT500 for the first time. These would not be the only cars that had trouble in that chicane, which is another reminder of the massive amount of work S397 has undertaken to fix all the sloppy remains in rF2 including issues with the tracks.
However, I am very pleased that everything they have released since the take-over has been 10/10 quality in terms of what they can control. Apparently the graphics update is ahead of schedule so far. It is indeed a merry Christmas season for me to relax knowing rF2 is in good hands and, albeit more slowly than any of us would prefer, piece by piece it will get its complete make-over into what it always had the potential to be--the best consumer sim in the market.
