Just a shot in the dark, did you try to set the 'negative lod' value to 'clamp' and the quality value to "very high" in your 3d settings to get rid of the blurriness? Assumed you have a NVidia card of course Combined with 16x AF this did the trick for me in all Gmotor sims.
Clamping the negative lod will cause blurriness, the reason why negative lod exists is to remove blurriness. The blurriness you see is caused by mipmaps. Negative lod keeps the main texture layer in view for longer to keep the picture sharper, if you clamp the neg lod bias, what your doing is making it switch to a lower mip faster, hence causing blurriness. Let me try to explain it in a bit more detail,,, Clamp sets the base layer to 0 instead of the assigned -2/etc negative lod, so when a clamped system goes to mip map 1, a non clamped system is still on the base layer, then when a clamped system goes to mip map 2, a non clamped system is still on the base layer. Once a clamped system goes to mip 3, the non clamped system with a neg lod of -2 goes to mip 1. With a base texture of 1024 x 1024 (every mip map layer is half the size of the previous layer), by the time the clamped system is on stage 3 mip map, it is 128 x 128, where a non clamped system is 512 x 512. A reason why the clamp option exists is basically a last resort to remove jaggered lines, because at the same time as giving you a a sharper picture, neg lod also causes aliasing, if a system cant run AA high enough, then clamp is the only option.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation mianiak! Cured me from a yearlong misbelief, really. I always thought clamping the negative lod would give the best possible image quality.
hi fells. i plann to update my "1960 World Class Racing All Tracks" vmod in next days. will croft release imminent? (in that case i can wait for insert your track)
Mauro, I have two small problems, cornerworkers and reflections for wet road - still not working properly. I intend to release the Croft as soon as possible but I don't know when. It could be few hours, few days or two weeks. It depends when I fix bugs
I was wondering what was going on with this track. As long as you didn't abandon it, I'm happy. Take your time! Thank you for the work.
Very much looking forward to Croft too, I hope you get everything fixed up feels3 and a thank you from me also.
After few months of work my first track is ready to release. First of all I would like to thanks to all guys from ISI's forum for support. Also I would like to thanks my beta testers from Simracing.pl. Special thanks to K Szczech and NAD for their support from the first days of project. Croft v0.91 - release notes: - trees are temporary 2d bilboards, fully 3d trees are planned for v1.0 (performance reason) - HDR profile is from ISI's track, new profile is planned for v1.0 - dirt layout is planned for v1.0 - animations are planned for v1.0 - temporary night lighting, upgrage is planned for v1.0 - 1% textures are from ISI's tracks. - up to 40 drivers on track (24 + 16 garages / 24 pits) - AI is very far from perfect, upgrade is planned ASAP. - temporary replay cameras, upgrade is planned for 1.0 - no trackside sounds, upgrade is planne for 1.0 - performance, models and textures improvements are planned for 1.0 Croft v1.0 is planned after GOLD version of rfactor 2. On full/max details Croft has 20-60% better performance than ISI's track (depends on hardware) but if you still have a problem, try these settings: shadows "low" track details "medium" enviroment reflections "OFF" HDR ON, AA 2x, AF 4x other settings: ON/HIGH These settings are good compromise between quality & performance. Package contains track and three vmods. Vmods need updated cars and tracks: Brianza Portugal Monaco Malaysia Palm Beach Belgium Mid-Ohio Nissans Clio 1960 OW ps. some one could ask why after six months of work Croft still is not fully finished? The reason is obvious, every single thing in this project was new for me, I had to learn everything step by step about modding and still I have a lot to learn. I had two choices: 1. wait, learn, improve the track after each new rf2's build, and release it after GOLD 2. release it now and give you guys the oportunity to drive at Croft 0.9 I chose option 2. Wow! First here... what a bonus. Excellent news feels3... been looking forward to Croft for ages now and we have the Clio`s to blast round there. I know where I`ll be for the rest of the night. Many thanks.
Many thanks to you for releasing this beauty before rF2 GOLD ! Thank you for all the hard work you put already in this really cool club track that will fit nicely with the Clio cup cars !
