[WIP] CART Factor

Not sure if S397 will actually do anything about this, aside from confirming that this is the case.
Personally I don't think it's reasonable to expect that the rF2 code will accommodate mods which have ultra-legacy parameters on the HDV file when we all want rF2 to be come better optimised and stable...
It's a bummer, BUT, if there are clear instructions on what has to be corrected, I am sure that the community will be able to address this on a case to case scenario.

Nonetheless, I did ask on Discord if it would be possible to incorporate a new function on the MAS app to review components, parsing through the HDV files and apply an automatic correction (which I assume could be achievable).

You could be right but I don't think the breaking of the rF1 engine files was intentional and they may have an easy fix. But then again it could also mean all mods that use the older engine format will no longer work, time will tell. If that's the case then like @redapg said he has the tools for the job. In regards to this mod, the end goal is for the car to use the rF2 engine format utilizing the turbo functionality. @PatientRF2fan has already worked on that along with a new chassis for the Reynard which when time is available will be finalised and developed for the other chassis.

I know that work was ongoing, but it appears that life has got in the way for PateientRF2fan and modding went into the back-burner...

It appears to be an issue with the rF1 format engine files according to a post in another thread. It has been reported and apparently it will be looked at by S397.

Could you direct me to this other thread? This is effecting some of my favorite old mods so I want to track what happens with this. Thx.

Working on this again in 2025 :)
Thanks for the warm welcome back. Great to see some familiar names.

I have been busy on this. I will share something within a month

The Reynard98i Car:

-(HAD PERMISSION TO REWORK)
-Diggerhawk sent me his graphical update :)
-Started from scratch with the spreadsheet
-I spent enjoyable hours entering in all the DW12 road chassis as a base
-great way to reintroduce the fun and frustrating parts of the spreadsheet.. omg gears lol
-entered wheel base track and other general Reynard 98 data
-added some lift and anti squat to the geometry
-the turbo engine is great
-aero mostly done just working on drag
-just finishing up the oval speedway chassis and it is going very well (the reason i wanted to do this)
-super speedway handford device next then short oval

Tracks
Had to learn 3dsmax again after a couple years
(I will have to sort out some permissions from authors for any sharing)

it seems many of the ovals are either really bumpy for stock cars or the mesh is loose 2-3meters
I had to remesh or reloft many just for testing

SPEEDWAY
-HOMESTEAD lofted a 6degree homestead on the original isi version
-MONTEGI tightened oval mesh for personal use
-94GATEWAY smooth mesh (it was very smooth in 98)

SUPERSPEEDWAY
-Michigan 2016 tight re-mesh 240mph is smooth
-Apple Valley (Fontana) re-lofting smooth track and walls (way too bumpy)

SHORTOVAL
NAZARETH tighten mesh created new bumps
MILWAUKEE re-lofted tighter creating new bumps

ROAD
-LONG BEACH re-lofted track and walls - 98 layout need to adjust bumps to new car
-SURFERS re-meshed need to adjust bumps to new car
-CLEVELAND re-meshed need to adjust bumps to new car (HAD PERMISSION TO WORK ON)
-BRAZIL lofted the track and walls within the 88 f1 track
-TORONTO re-loft track and walls / new trees / moving the pits back / simplifying (HAD PERMISSION TO WORK ON)
-VANCOUVER I have the base for 97 98 99 multi layout (HAD PERMISSION TO WORK ON)
-MID OHIO re-meshed need to adjust bumps to new car
