Looking amazing. No matter what the game or platform, its always been very hard to pull off the grass/trees/vegetation and have it look good, but this looks very nice.

edit: ^^ i agree about the kerb being too high, but i think the rest is just due to road position and perspective, they look spot on to me

Check some other references for the La Source curb--it's bigger than it appears in that image... I think you're seeing the difference in camera angle--your's is very high and in Tim's video you're right near the ground, which makes it look taller...

Which in this case means one of the Matra's, for which we were very happy to get the license for...

Its the difference in FOV. It is always just the difference in fov. If its too high like on a bumper-cam then curve's seem strait, hills seem flat and distances are exaggerated. You would have to know the exact MM lenses the camera's were using in those shots to try and match it perfectly.

If I would have dropped the FOV in this video below 35 via the cam file it would have been perfect but I rushed it so it is off slightly, but you can tell the difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaPoC1SAzxI&fmt=37

There doesn't look to be that much difference, not sure why, I might have rendered the video with in correct settings. I'll check next time. :)

I just joined the forum - hello all!

I just wanted to say Tim, that the video plays fine for me in all resolutions - even 720p.

I loved SCGT, love rFactor and can't wait for RF2!! Keep up the great work everyone! It looks fantastic!

I upload all my 1152X720P vids H264 (5.1profile) @ 3500 kbps singlepass. Since yours will probably be 1280x720 you may want to bump up the bitrate and do a multi-pass.

I was just wondering what the hell was that artifact on mid distance lol (tnx Scott for the explanation)
Good luck for the 'mirage' effect, probably is that illusion when the ground and the air is so hot that creates that garbled reflection in the light rays.
I'm wrong.? :). You guys are palying around with shaders eh??.. :D.. good.

Anyway is sooooo nice to see the Masta Esse in 2010, was a nightmare flatout, in GPL i mean, can't forget that place, really daunty.
Better to stop the car and go to the Patisserie just some meters on the right in the exit of the Esse :D.

Oops, i missed the 3rd page so Yoshimura's post was already commented on before :)

All in all I think it's a great rendition and step forwards in recreating the old legendary tracks with more accuracy, and I hope it doesn't stop with just Spa :)

A real eye opener for someone brought up on the GPL Spa - it looks much more like the road I drove last month though I reckon Eau Rouge is a lot steeper - but I think the mirage effect is way over the top and I smell BS - it is an artifact really ;) It reminds me of the gormless blurring in NFS, or further back, the bizarre trails behind the golf ball in Links.

And did everybody who lived around the circuit really park their cars alongside the track like that? I guess I should go and check some videos...
