The release date was pushed back, the announcement was about a month ago: The new release date is Feb. 20, 2024. You can follow LMU at the official website: https://www.lemansultimate.com/
February now... all being well. I'd assume that as it's going to be based on rF2 then there is probably little need for any real beta testing. One would expect their efforts to be concentrated on sorting new cars and tracks. And, at a guess, "removing" the ability to have non MSG DLC items.
It doesnt prove anything but if I had a game that was doing great in development (even if theres a delayed release date) I would want to show it off and generate some hype in order to sell units once it ships. Especially when things arent looking so hot in the PR department. Im also just stoked on new WEC content and I wanna see what we are getting!
Possibly but they could use other liveries pretty easily. Im not saying this means something is wrong with the game, it could also just be the marketing dept messing it up. But Id hoped to see some really cool footage by now so I can tell everyone how promising it looks.
Promoting a product towards the Christmas season when it won't be released yet wouldn't be too smart. Now it's to time to market their current product, then after Christmas start the marketing for the new product.
i hope it does release, and more importantly I hope its good, because if its anything like that raging dumpter fire, Nascar Ignition, it will certainly spell the end of MSG and its children companies.
Time will tell. I've seen plenty of comments elsewhere seemingly loathing that it will be "rf2 with a reskin only," and a big part of me screams "YES PLEASE!" I don't buy into the insane tribalism the sim racing "community" is known for, but I really have a tough time of enjoying sims that are not rF2 for extended periods these days. S397 served me up FFB and tire model caviar and it's challenging to eat FFB and tire model canned tuna with a genuine smile on my face these days. I'll make exceptions for AMS2, I really admire the passion Reiza pours into that project and manage to have a blast zipping around historic tracks/layouts in one of their many throwback cars between the open wheelers and stuff like group C. For all of the wonky nature of the old PCARS engine, they've managed to put some attractive lipstick on that pig and have knocked it out of the park with regards to VR immersion and visual fidelity. They continue to bring their tire model a long way from whence it came.
Oh, uh....wait...no gameplay? Just a 2m video virtually unveiling a car we already know what it looks like?
LOL! Even the West Brothers showed more working details! At some point there seemed to be 600ish people connected and I thought this will be fantastic for the game. Now, I wonder how many of those disconnected after 2m and thought, "that's it?".
