the t1 toyota isnt rendered properly in Gjed , only in the max screenshot.. That said, when i imported to that i noted none of the materials are assigned in the material editor.. I will have a play tomorrow itis 3am. Im exporting from simed as the original was built in b2b, then i updated and worked on models in max 2011 exporting them as individual gmt and inserting them with simed. (yes sucked and slow) .. reason being i couldnt import the 85% finished product into max 1.5 years ago without re-doing all texturss.. I couldnt get an import format to work to maintain mapping.. so i never bothered.. Now im trying to iimport it into Max, which is coming in fine in FBX format.. but it isnt quite working.. I want to mess around and update it.. I built a scratch oval in max.. i will try to export that... I will ask some more questions after sleeping on it.. and trying some other things..
I tried to open a couple of .scn files from my rf1/Locations folder but I just get a blank grey screen. It seems to think it has loaded ok as it is showing me coordinates and fps in the bottom corner and keystrokes move me around to different positions within my grey blank world. Sorry im noob in modding. Where can i find this error log? All i can give now is this i think its my windows n not the exe
I would say if you scrolled down on that window it would tell you... Probably something like TEMP or Appdata/rFactor 2/
File Management • Open/Merge File (.fbx .scn .gen .gmenv) – will launch the Open File dialog The above is from the documentation page and it says that I can open .gen files, from the open file selector I only have the options .fbx, .scn and .gmt. Should I open .gen files using the .scn option ?
I had this, I had to pick the folder structure correctly when loading a track. I can't remember how I got it to work... I will have to try when I get a few mins.
After many tears I have some important info for Blender users. By default Blender names all UV maps as UVMap. You NEED to rename this to '1' (etc) else gJED doesn't understand the texture co-ordinates. I can only get the 6.1 FBX exporter to work. Also, the biggest pain for me is that it only seems to work correctly if you export from Blender Render mode. I'm 100% a Cycles render guy but I guess it shouldn't make too much difference! Hope that helps someone else. p.s. since i can't find a way to do spline mapping in Blender (been trying for a couple of years!) it could be tricky to map a racing line for the real road rubber. Any ideas are very welcome!
I have crashes quite often. Specially when I'm trying to change a texture on a material. Config : W10 x64, i5 2500K, Geforce 760 with latest drivers available. Dont know if it's a bug, but when I hit the "escape" key, gJed closes without any warning immediately. Pretty annoying when you have spent half on hour working... A few requests if it's possible : - dont quit gJed when hitting the escape key - ability to pin the materials and objects windows - ability to copy material properties to paste on another material
It seems that if you set up materials, save, and quit. Then reopen the FBX and forget to tick the three 'load' tick boxes it will overwrite your precious .gmenv file and the settings are lost! Would it be possible to change this somehow as it could be very annoying if one forgets! Don't know if this could help any Blender people but I got real road working ok in gJED with the approach below - although I did have to assign the shader and textures in gJED. I have been playing around with different settings all weekend when trying to load a SCN but always end up with this.
Have you set the ..\ModDev\Locations folder as Root Path, in the window where you select the scn, gmt or fbx file to load?
Ok, doing that I can now load up Joesville in the ModDev folder. What about if I wanted to look at a circuit from RF1? Should that be copied into ModDev?
I think you first have to do a basic conversion with 3DSimed before opening it with gJed. Btw, I worked a little with gJed. When I tried to export the SCN, it seems that the scn file has changed but when I reopen it the track is exactly the same than before editing. I only export SCN file. Do I do something wrong ?
