What is "sync:" in video setup? the options are: None, software, GPU, Video.

    I must select GPU ??

Software sync: a timer is used to limit frames drawn to one per vsync period, based on your refresh rate setting. Caps the frame rate at no higher than refresh rate without the notch effect of hw vsync. testing has apparently shown this to be the best option for lowest latency.

GPU: this is the plr file's "flush previous frame" option moved to the UI. this will lower your frame rate in exchange for smoothness. don't use with SLI.

Video: standard hw vsync. only use if your frame rate is consistenly higher than the refresh rate of your monitor, and you object to the tearing effect.

    • Software sync uses a timer to draw frames based on your refresh rate. In other words, you could compare it with a software VSync.
    • GPU sync is a UI element for the PLR's "Flush Previous Frame" setting. This setting is not recommended for SLI.
    • Video sync is actually the good old VSync option (notice that the usual VSync checkbox is now missing).
    • None means it will behave like the previous build, without VSync enabled.

Meh, I was beaten to it :) .

I get an error when i try to launch..

"Only the rFactor Launcher application can run the update executable. Place this executable in the updates directory."

I have downloaded it to my Documents\rFactor2\Updates

    Any help?

Flush previous frame seems to me like CPU-GPU synchronization, while Vsync is GPU-display synchronization.

I usually want both enabled, since I don't have SLI, thet's why I found this new setting a bit confusing.
Seems like GPU is closest to my preference, but the Software option is also interesting.

You run the update from the launcher once you've extracted it to the right directory.

Only the rFactor Launcher application can run the update executable, as it says. Once it is in the right place, the launcher can run it.

Well it broke my install. I put the update exe in the Updates folder, started the launcher, clicked Update and it said my game was up to date. I clicked SinglePlayer and it said no mods were installed. I checked the Manage Mods button and it said they were all installed. Uninstalled them and reinstalled them, still nothing.

When I get home from work I'll uninstall the whole game and reinstall and see what happens.

Definitely a leap forward in FPS, well done! Also, the FFB is a lot less noisy on grass and gravel now, excellent. FXAA seems to lose almost all of the jagged lines without too much FPS hit. (on nVidia) Tracks seem to load a lot faster too. All in all a great update!
