rFactor 2 Now on Steam

If you install the "Steam" dedicated server distribution, which incidentally can be downloaded by anybody, even without a Steam account, you get a dedicated server that publishes itself both to the ISI matchmaker and the Steam matchmaker. So all servers should show up there. I say "should" because in theory you could decide to configure a server not to broadcast its presence. Our goal with all of this was to not split the community.

Thanks for your answer!

You've never requested a steam key for the account that uses the email you're using on the forum.

The email you use on the forum, that NON-STEAM account, is standard, and is expired for multiplayer.

I have the same issue, and when I activated my key it said "rFactor 2 with lifetime subscription".

Auto-subscribing to workshop items... (10 minutes and still nothing, can't run the sim).

Same issue here...

Edit: every time I post, it starts working LOL.

Logging out of Steam and trying again worked. Must be the servers being rather busy LOL :)

Firstly Congrats ISI on getting now both your games on Steam, quite a stepping stone moment I think :)

I'm just mulling over whether to outright buy RF2 again on Steam and therefore retain my off-steam version, just weighing up the options and really wondering to myself if having it on Steam is really worth it right now...I guess in the long run it is (can eventually "give up" the off-steam one) and I have other Sims on there anyway...pay day tomorrow...I shall decide!
Yes,first of all congratulations on the move to steam......you're going to be billionaires!!!!!
I've been thinking of buying a second copy as well.If anybody can convince me as too any advantages in owning 2 copies (one non-steam and one steam),I'll be sure to do it.

My lifetime account after migrating to steam has expired multiplayer!? When I requested the steamkey, the form was already filled with my email and some hidden password iirc so I just pressed ok. Did I do something wrong?

Edit: And I remember i read: "rFactor 2 with lifetime subscription"

So there is no hope for a future solution? Serious question as I'd rather spend that money on other things ;)

There is hope for everything, but if you ask me if something like that it's on our plans, today...I'd say no. It isnt.

With the STEAM install we will have ALL ISI content installed??? Oh boy, after read this i think i'll stick to "normal" version by now...

That's fine as I wasn't expecting an overnight fix :p

I therefore hope it is something that can be seen too in future, as for now that makes my decision to avoid the Steam version until the next time I get around to upgrading my SSD....which is no time soon!

You've already rF2...so this is not really a problem for anyone. Take your time to buy a new SSD. ;)

Yes but I'd rather not have to download a vast majority of content that I'll never play, with non-steam I can avoid that so that's where I'm staying. Like I said a new SSD is nowhere near the top of my priority list, therefore the easy answer is to stay as I am, problem sorted :)

asking a second time, in the description for those who wish to buy the 8.99 multiplayer sub, it says:

£8.99 at checkout, auto-renewed every 1 year(s) at £8.99.

Does this mean it will auto charge me every year? how to stop this? Just want to know what i'm signing up for before i put monies down.

hold up, does the 1 year subscription not allow the use of steam wallet funds?
