As soon as I saw the Release Candidate notes, I thought of all your effort in this area. Glad you were able to get on top of it.
I'm not so keen on changing the date to June. The 1953-55 Tourist Trophies were held in September (Sep 5, 9, & 15 in those years), so the shorter daylight is definitely historical.
Thanks, understand, this is not a quick decision, as I had a deep discussion with Jim a while back on this matter. The primary reason is that when set to September 17th(as exact historic accurate), several part of the track will always covered in shadow, and overall sunlight and lighting is more dark than June to August. The difference is so big and noticeable that in order to deliver best visual experience, we had set hidden date to August in the initial release. However even August still does not have the best looking sunlight coverage. Note that date will not only affect daylight duration and darkness, but also affect color balance as lighting will be shifting more to the warm tint in most of daylight hours from September. So after many testing l have decided to change the hidden date to June 7th(as the historic 1952 none-championship race date). Alternatively creating additional layout for different race date is another option I had thought of, but this will be over doing just for a date difference. So I believe the best solution is to have a user adjustable UI option in game(if developer sees this, please consider this option, thanks), so that player can choose any date they like. Currently only the track mod can define this setting.
Agreed. This is one of those things that seemed like it was intended in the rFactor world (as descendants like PCARS added), but never implemented.
What mod is the Mercedes in the above pics ? Btw: Dunrod is one of the best tracks, can't stop using it (in VR). I prefer the EVE F2/F1 cars. Any other nice car recommendations for this track?
We've been running a few combos around here. The G4 is pretty wild. Historic F1 & F2 (as you mentioned), BT20, Aussie Legends and the T70's to name a few.
v2.03 - Further tweaks to wet & puddle map for better transition & more details. - Small correction to road AO specular map. - Less specular strength from airplane propeller blades.
I think we need a new adjective to classify svictor's work. The attention to detail and dedication are just insane.
