Mostly been into 70's F1, but nice mod here, which years cars are included ?, 72' seems to be a interesting year for Can
    Am cars.

It's not a Lola, not a BRM, not the Mclaren M8F, Not the Porsche TurboPanzer....hmmmm Not any of the Ferraris...or March or... :)
Not the Ford 429er, Ti-22?? nope...I bet there are at least a dozen different home built cars that ran in Can-am...

Possibly the Mk III Shadow??? There was one other privateer working on putting turbos on the Chevs, but I can't remember right now. Both the Panzer and the Mclaren M20 had fences on the rear wing, so those two twin turbo projects are ruled out..

There was also a Nissan Group 7 car that competed in Japan. Check out that SPLIT independent functioning rear wing:

Going back beyond the 1970 fence, The Autocoast Ti-22 could be called the father of all the Shadow Can-am efforts. Lots of Titanium. The body is the wing.

@Nicola59 If you are doing the physics, remember the M8B had a higher revving Chevrolet than the rest of the cars that year. At least 500 more rpm to redline...

Omg chief, you didn't!!? You really are too awesome. Now you've given me the dilemma of a life time for the championship. I suppose I should stick with the nearly as beautiful McLaren

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren_M8A. A little less torque, but a few more over all HP, from 620hp in 1968 to 630hp@7000rpm

    if it could be useful
for 1971 cam am cars you could find all technical specs on the GPL mod page:
    http://canam71.gplworld.de/

(select cars/technical specs and flip through the pages)
you cold also find calendar race by race with official lap times (riverside long layout could be a good comparative test for lap times)

P.S. ...as usual the gpl mod community is incredible :)

I believe that the first McLaren is an M8C. This was basically a customer version of the M8B. (high wing)

The easiest way to distinguish the factory M8A/B vs the Elva M8C/M12 is the bottom of the sidepods. The factory cars were square while the Customer cars had a rounded or curved bottom edge. I don't know of any particular reason other than fuel bladders were located there (one season they even had a 3rd tank under the driver's knees. These were real men back then) The squared off side pod possibly allowed another extra bit of fuel. The curved bottom would restrict the total fuel capacity and thus force the privateers to ever so slightly detune the engines so their fuel would last for 2hrs. ONE of the M8C's/M12's glaring weaknesses was the lack of fresh air reaching the driver. Almost all the Can-Am cars got incredibly hot. John Surtees drove an M12 for several rounds and had a flexible tube, similar to the brake duct tubes, strapped on top of the nose and run around the windscreen to provide 'some' cooling.

Your photo is of an M12, also a customer car. I have attached a photo of George Eaton's M12.

Hey Dave, just remember that this mod isn't a 1:1. I'm completely ok with having a few inaccuracies in order to have more options, and closer competition. In the build your own car, I don't know of any one that would select the lower HP Chevy.

If Chief was to focus on 1 year or 1 series, then I could see getting down into those details. But for what it is, I think it is too much work that could be spent on other areas. Things like having cars that haven't been in any game before. But I support any content Chief creates :)

But that is just my opinion.
