With the McLaren already out and the Bentley now announced, will it be possible to race these cars in multiclass racing against people who have not purchased them? Will there be a 'light' install of them that will allow you to run against them? In the past you had to have all the files installed on both the server and every client connecting to the server to race against a vehicle. With these being purchased content not everyone is able\willing to shell out the additional cost for them. Before I pitch an idea of trying to run multiclass racing with them I'd like to know from you guys if everyone on the server, not in that class, will need to purchase them to race against them. Thanks.
the questions is first , would they have equals perfs ?? or do we have to do the perfs balance ourself for doing (a small) official S397 GT3 challenge mod for league (like Simtek/Apex/UDR/Blancpain) ?? (im not sure of the translator in english )
They said they are working on it. And since the Camaro will be updated to fit these cars I guess people that dont own it can drive the Camaro for free then without owning the others just fine. Not sure if this will work as soon as the mod is released, hopefully it will, Reiza did it so a team like S397 should have no problem at all I guess. It's impossible to trully balance a GT3 grid, things will always change depending on the track you race. ACO uses 3 different kind of BoP for example. Now if they follow my ideas for the new UI balancing the cars should be possible to do with a few clicks. AC has the live BoP if I'm not mistaken, I suggested something similar
You either way need all the files, because 95% of the car file size comes from the textures and car model. Physics files take almost no space. So there is no way to distribute a light version if you want to race against the other cars. Personally I doubt it will ever happen that we can race online against other content without paying, and the way S397 sells all the cars in a single "GT3 package" suggests the same, but we'll see.
I guess I find it hard to understand how people can afford to have internet connections, can afford a computer of the spec to run rF2, can (usually) afford to outlay for specialist peripherals to drive well enough to compete, but can't afford DLC? YOu aren't forced to buy the DLC, but it isn't that expensive either. I fully admit to having enough cash to afford to buy stuff for my hobby, but I am not sure that truly poor people play rF2 either
This is not about if people are poor or not, this is simply about avoiding community fragmentation and plain simple common sense Believe it or not some people wont have interest on all cars so if you make a league with GT3+TC making it possible for the TC grid (if you are using an excelent mod like the upcoming NGTC that will be free) to race against the GT without them having to own it is a huge plus. Otherwise there will be no reason to add the licensed GT pack to the league, may as well use a mod (and some people will use this as an excuse to pirate it, unfortunately) You dont need to own all the cars in iRacing, RR, PC and even AMS will let you drive the car online without owning it (you have to own the track tho if it is a DLC)
Will has it nailed down. We have a league that is running the suite from Enduracers. Before I suggest GTC goes to these GT3 cars I want to make sure we could do so without everyone having to buy into something they aren't going to use. Really hoping someone from S397 would chime in here to give us a thumbs up or down.
So you'd use GT3 cars instead of GTE cars and mix them with prototypes? Or only the GT3 cars by themselves?
AMS and other games made it work by including all cars in the base game, regardless if you own them or not. In rF2 no cars are included in the base game and the GT3 pack is specifically under a Steam store item. So I cannot see how it could possibly work to drive against non-owned cars in rF2 without S397 changing the direction completely and starting to include base content into the game again. Or make some sort of workshop item that doesn't really "work" but that you can drive against, but it seems an awfully convoluted solution.
Doesn't matter how it is done as long as it works. And they said on Discord more than once they are working on it, they are even going to sell the cars separated, not only the pack option
I gave Emery a thumbs up. GTE and GT3 are different. If you are running Enduracers (including P2) then Endurance cars are the go. I understand Enduracers will add other cars too, but not the most recent. If you are running Enduracers (other than Flat 6 GTC mod) for GT3, then you are running GTE cars, not GT3
The Flat 6 GTC is not a GT3, it's a Cup, slower than GT3 car (the car has No TC, No ABS and less power).
Oh yep sorry, but still not GTE or GT3 either, However good fun as a single class! We had a great championship with them
This is not a question of buying DLC or not, it's more kind of a support to the best simulator out there to continue to develop. If people can throw 100€/year to iRacing or spend 15€ on a car, why not support rF2 that is far better? I don't mind to buy some dlc's from time to time to help them, but this is my opinion of course...
I liked your post, but apparently DLC fractures the community - see other posts. I guess an ideal situation is that people who don't buy DLC, can't use it, but can race against it. My view is that if they can race against it, they should be prepared to pay for it too - otherwise use the free stuff (of which there is plenty). My thinking -, they are getting the benefit of seeing it, and being challenged by it, so why do some people pay and others do not?
To add weight to your post Rui, I paid a second time for rF2 when it was released on Steam, just to say that I was prepared to support the best racing experience again after several years. I own the competition, but something about rF2 keeps me hooked, when the others don't
