But the weird thing is SPOTTER WORKS PERFECTLY FINE IN DEV MODE.... Surly it wouldn't be that hard to enable it in the actual game.
Had installed a fresh build 300, and again had no spotter. Have gone back to my old post (#34) in this thread, and I can now confirm that what you have to do, if you have the default directories (rFactor2 in C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2 and Data in C:\Users\yourname\Documents\rFactor2) is to COPY C:\Users\yourname\Documents\rFactor2\Installed\Commentary to C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2\Installed. This will leave you with the following directory layout: C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2\Installed\Commentary\Commentary\1.0\ and all commentary files within. This will enable the spotter. At least it does on my install. The double Commentary\Commentary path, that I thought was incorrect, is actually correct.
Copying the folder from the documents area to the program files area worked for me! I can now hear the spotter! Thanks for the info cosimo!
Cosimo thanks I think I almost got it but please clarify I found the commentary/commentary folder in the user/my documents folders - I also found the 2nd lot of rfactor 2 files in the c: program files area but I don't get an "installed" folder only a "core" and "plugins" folders - do I need to create an "installed" folder and copy the commentary/commentary folders into this? P.S. Tim please correct this in a future update!!
Since i use thes settings, it works fine: Number of effects=24 Spotter details=full Spotter laptimes=always Music=0 Sound effects=45 Engine=60 Tires=120 Spotter=74 Opponent=15 Player=55
If someone has found out how to make it work when installed somewhere else than c:, kindly let me know.
I'm not sure it's about the C drive. I always install to a single path for both core and data and NOT in C:/Program Files. I then find the spotter always works. I think ISI have a mapping problem (IMHO), may be wrong, together with Windows 7 and 8, that has a habit of behind the scenes not putting files where you think they are......
Yep, I install to D drive and as soon as I put both folders together the spotter worked. No need for C. No UAC either though - very good chance that'll stuff things up as usual
Help! seems there is 2 solutions! Just wondering what the solution is for this problem 1)Do I need to install core data in same place - move the commentary/commentary folders into by main directory? 2)Do I just need to increase the volume for the spotter and set sounds to 34? Note : I have never since the start had spotter times being called?
You can try adjusting sounds first (its the quickest) but I doubt it will help. For me installing the core and data together in a folder outside c:/program files/ (away from Windows UAC) did work.
Yes, this worked for me as well. All I did was go into C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\rFactor2\Installed Copy the folder named "Commentary" to C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2\Installed Or whatever your path is to \rfactor2\Installed. Essentially the installed\commentary folder must exist in the core rfactor folder.
My "core" folder looks like this: Code: D:\Games\rFactor2\Core\... D:\Games\rFactor2\Installed\Commentary\Commentary\1.0\... My documents folder looks like this: Code: E:\Games\rFactor2\Installed (the Commentary inside here is *not* used) E:\Games\rFactor2\Packages and my spotter works. If I reinstall from scratch, the Commentary folder will only be installed in E: (documents folder) and rF2 won't pick it up, until I make a copy or move it to D:\ (core/program folder).
I can't beleive this is still being mentioned and moving files still.. Is this happening for everyone or just a selected few? if everyone why has ISI not made the changes in the installed packaged. Probably a reason behind it so hopefully someone from ISI can explain this.
never worked for me, but can hear faintly when I turn down everything else but obviously not a solution I'd like " on you left " " on your right " warnings , would help reduce incidents also guess thus falls under sound dev ( been posting about sound in the 5.1 reverb etc thread )
