PS The track is looking really really good already! How much stuff is left to complete?
Thanks but that is probably just because I have only shared screens that look half way decent. When I think about what is left it is kinda overwhelming but I just try to do a little every day. Some of the larger things left to do are things that don't directly transfer over. I still need to do pretty much all of the terrain blending. The crowds will have to be created from scratch. Honestly I don't consider any of it done.

@toebee Will you include a version with the 'tyres of death'?
No plans for any other versions at this time.

If it can look 85% as good as it does in AC, it's a victory.
My goal is 100% but FPS will probably be the ultimate decider...

After 69 when the dogleg and T9, and T1 got reconfigured the tires were pretty much on the way out. They were there for a few years but by the mid 70s only a few corners had some remains of the original tires. By 1980 all the tires were gone and the small curbs were put in place.

To be 100% correct and have all the "tires of death", T9 and T1 would have to be the pre 69 configuration and many of the track side objects would have to change. Such as the goodyear tower would be on the front straight, no suites on front straight, the T6 grandstands would have to be smaller, 80's era RVs would have to be changed to 60's era cars, etc. It is basically a total remodel of the circuit. I prefer the curbs rather than the tires myself.

Hey Toebee, once again you have earned my hero status!

Hey Kevin, this is exciting news for me...your masterpiece needs to be enjoyed on other platforms and I can't wait to drive Dave Sabre's 1969 F5000 cars on your track!

and yes, I'd much rather have curbs than those killer tires

I have a piece of one of those curbs that still has some rubber on it!

Just thought I would give a update. I recently finished placing the people around the track. At least the majority of them. I have moved on to working on the terrain blending and the 3d grass. LilSki did a great job placing the 3d grass. It must have taking forever to do. Here are a few screens of me toodling around in the weeds. Still lots of stuff to do but it is coming along.

Thanks Joe. Yes I have made lots of progress. However there is still more to be made. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. Maybe another month or so and I might have something I feel comfortable sharing with the community. Probably just the Nascar layout at first. Converting the track in the middle of a graphics overhaul probably wasn't the best circumstances. I have rework multiple things as DX11 has matured. This latest rain update changed the lighting. It fixed a bug I had been chasing for months where normals where getting ignored during cloud cover. Which is great but it has had an adverse effect on the 3d style grass. Colors aren't matching the way I like when the sun is at extreme angles like sunrise and sunset. So I need to revisit the grass shader settings. Other things that need to be done off the top of my head, Add more details to garage area, get the scoring tower working, add night lighting, make track graphics like a splash screen and the track maps, update the realroad shaders to the new rain ones, complete track edges, add sounds, setup the visgroups, I am sure there is more.

Here are some screens of my progress.
