Some quick external shots which show the surrounding objects being reflected. Obviously again these are work in progress shots of rFactor 2 in development, simply showing you the reflections, other effects may not be on at all, or not yet final.

Most games (not just racing games) have a block around the player or car which is reflected. Keep your eyes open next time you run a game and see if the reflection is actually of the object it should be... Often it won't be even similar.

Have a good weekend everyone. :)

Nice one ;] Great reflection. It will look fantastic on after race movies ;]

Cars will be also reflecting each other?

Very interesting, good reflections and shadows have a significant impact on the sense of immersion.
Thanks for the screens and good weekend too ;)

    Thanks for the screen...it's good.
    I check every day here for the forum's news and all screens are very appreciate but I don't post very often;
    take ALL the time you need to complete this SIMULATOR,every simdriver really interested in the project I'm sure would wait in silence when it'll be ready,so please ingore all the bad comments about posting W.I.P.;
to all of them simply answer:
"we've released rFactor1:go buying it if you haven't done yet and get every screen you want from a finished product."
thanks again to stay in touch with the community,we really needed that.

Thanks indeed for sharing these new pics. Having real time reflections is one of the things i was looking forward to have in rF2. It will look much more realistic with them. Can't wait to give a try to these new shaders! :)

    Thanks once more!

    Thanks another nice update Tim!

Will the three 'leader lights' on the cars light up appropriately or is that something for the modders to figure out (being not a priority at all for me ;))?

A great improvement over rf1, that's for sure. And I can see self-shadowing being activated, it's not ultra high res yet, but it's there. :)
Actually, everything in those 3 shots casts dynamic shadows, right Tim 'n' Scott? :)

I hope Tim 'n' Scott don't mind me answering your question :p : yes, a lot of time and effort has been put into making things dynamic, including the shadows for all objects.

    Very nice, thanks for posting.

I noticed the images appear as broken links in the forum's RSS feed, might be worth looking into.

    All the best, Uwe

Thanks, very impressive! I think this particular feature will really add to the sense of immersion.

Reflections of the track objects look cool.

It may be the evening (or morning) sky we have been seeing on almost every wip shot,
but i feel the sky/clouds/sun/light should be reflected better on the cars.

Check out this picture to see what i mean:

    or this one

    Maybe that´s yet to come.
    I sure hope so :)

Looking forward to see what other new car shaders rf2 will feature.
Some kind of fresnel effect (or better light reflections in general) would take this to yet another level.

keep up the good work! :)

    Thanks Luc!
This is something I'm really looking forward to. Can't wait to see the shadows dancing in the cockpit in the final version! :D
Oh, and: Are there plans to make the realtime reflections adjustable, like update rate for slower machines or resolution? I'm kinda curious about the fps impact of those, because they look pretty sharp and detailed (especially in pic #3). Not that my current rig couldn't handle it, I'm just curious.
Plus, are realtime reflections possible on, let's say, windows in the pits? Would look awesome to see passing cars in some windows. Of course, not necessary, but probably nice to have. :)

My ATI 5870 will be bored if the amount of work to display is what shows third screen.

Since you dont mind showing early wip. Bring on some snaps of your promising hdr on Estoril or any loaded track with lot sides objects.

I like to see some nice skies too if you plan to make it or already have it. 2048*2048 i believe is what i liked in rF 1.

    Looking great!!

If anyone had doubts about rF2's graphics then these shot must take them away.
(and if this doesn't satisfy them they should just buy GT5 :p)
