This seems like a rare issue, so it could be literally 1,000,000 different things causing it. I really don't know.

3 things you might try if all else fails

    1:Try running it as administrator

2:Try running it in XP compatibility mode (who knows)

3:Turn off Data Execution Prevention ("bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff" in command prompt, and then restart)
if that doesnt work, you can turn it back on with the same command but say "AlwaysOn" instead.

Probably wont make a bit of difference, but windows can be weird sometimes.

Also, if your graphics card or motherboard has any kind of power saving enabled, you might need to disable that, or put it on "performance" mode.

If none of that works (it most likely won't) then what I would do is get with SideSwitch, and try to figure out what your systems have in common. Maybe you both have some hardware in common, or even some program that you both have installed that might be causing it. That might help to pinpoint the cause.

:/ bloody hell indeed... Hate this kind of error happens. At least you aren't alone. It has to be something related with your system, software installed, config... which matches with that other guy with the exactly same problem.
Well, good luck. Hope is related to your setup because i think it will take long to isi release another build

Sorry I missed that post Lou does not understand what I saying.................

Now I don't understand what you mean by default Tim ?

When I tested a fresh rF2 lite on C:\ on a FRESH OS ( not old registry ) I selected C:\rFactor2 and the next path followed was in the Root folder ? ....not documents ?

I dropped in credentials booted rF2 ran a few of my mods with replays and nothing was created in documents.

Can you explain this discrepancy Tim please ?

Has anyone had the same or do you all get a folder in documents. ?

I thought even for my dumb arse I clearly explained and asked has anyone got 2 userdata ? and if so why ? as I see no use to it ? why not have 1 userdata in rF2 ?

    NO one answered.

Default locations are program files and documents.

    Crystal.

    So...Tim, I would then have 2 "UserData" folders.............right ?

What would be any benefit or purpose ?

When you change the default rF2 installation folder, the installer maintains that option for the content folder instead of suggesting the default user documents folder. It has been that way since the first build.

Some users like myself or DD prefer to avoid default location (it used to give problems privilege problems on rF1). Others prefer to stick to default.

It is a question of personal likes and user type. When having several builds installed, which is quite common in leagues, the default location is not very practical. At least I feel much more comfortable with separate installs each off them with its own content data inside.

Looks like something interrupted the creation of the UI. The text is there but wrong positioned. If I had to guess I would say there is something wrong with the visual c runtimes (many people seem to have trouble with these files). I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I know build 998 came with 2 new visual c installers (32 and 64 bit, 2013). Maybe it's worth to try to install them manually from the "rF2\Support\Runtimes" folder (all four versions).
If it doesn't work try to uninstall the files (Microsoft Visual C++ 2012/2013 Redistributable (x32 and x64), reboot and install again.

My main reason is I only ever do full image backups once in a blue moon.
Daily changes to document folders I would miss.

Too hit and miss for me, i would lose that one file I wanted my luck. lol

Right now in docs I do not have a single file of folder.

I do have a archived AC and pCars and GEM ( GPL) documents folder if I ever decide to boot them.
Apart from that nothing I use on my "sim" hardrive creates docs, I like it that way.

It is pretty easy to create batch files with BatchRun to backup and restore document changes every time you boot or shut a sim.

This made really senses and I too thought AHA this is gonna work. I had lots of Microsoft Visual C++ versions installed, removed them all and installed the rF2 ones.

    Like SideSwitch said.....same problem

    Thanks for the tip though!
