Talking about realism :).... At Mores there was almost no "grass", which is a wrong term to call everything is green above the ground. Most of the terrain in this place was covered by micro clovers and dead ground. This place is in the deep south Italy so you don't have to expect a golf course look, especially just after the summer. ;)

About 3D grass blades I like it when properly used, when they're properly sized and they're not introducing a to regular and repetitive CGI look. They're working good for a perfect lawn (synthetic?), less for a complex terrain. Imho.

To bad there is nothing more usefull and easy to do but most green i've seen in sim games looks terrible, the more threes, while one's more bad than the other's.

Couldn't agree more. 9/10 grass is a real let down. An area that needs some attention by most modders.

I'd like to have 3d marbles before 3d grass :)

Anyone know how hard it is to find quality shots of a race track's grass? HARD.

These are the best I have found. And from the average it seems to avoid 3d grass just having it sort of raise up a bit would get rid of a lot of the flat 2003 look the tracks currently have.

And even if you do, it might not be correct. I surveyed tracks a few times and took the time to photograph little features of the paint lines, grass, etc, only to find myself watching a race on TV and see that they repainted the lines and cut the grass for the next major event.

The kind of grass in that last shot at Spa would be very good to have in sim... imo.

Not too long, not too short and not flat :p

    Just right. :)

    Nice graphics :)

Someone should simulate the biological nature by a gen code and simulate the vegetation, so that it grows by itself. :)

the grass looks ok, i'd be interested to see if 3d grass would make a difference 'in game'

While not possible to do it automatically, I guess the basics are there to simulate the fact that the sun, moon and stars are in different places already... You could so a spring and fall version of a track, and be blinded by the sun in the right places for each...

If there is already the tec for spring simulation, there is already the potential to generate the grow time and direction. :D

More serious, don't think it was worth the effort to build diff looks of a track. It's fine to have dynamics but more important are the regular race dates and day times look.

Just movement of the surroundings, not really the season. Textures would look the same, except perhaps a slight difference because of lighting (cars could look a lot different, etc).

Maybe it will be possible in the far future to trigger a texture change by the date of the race. Just thinking loud... :)

beautiful track btw. Landscape looks great.

Ah ok. It's if you try to explain a noob something. :D

It should be enough for the first until the vegetation is grown :D
