Quick dev update

will there be a fixed for the bouncing cars, what seems to happen quite frequently now. if you bump a car. it front continues to bounce up/down.

nice on the btcc cars & Silverstone

Funny I originally thought you meant how AI "pumps" the throttle and brake. I hate that. Is that the way it is supposed to be? Please say no and that ISI is going to fix that.

Regarding your question, I don't know but definitely hope so!

Quite big I guess. Look at the number of F1 mods for rF1. I don't think most of them are of decent quality.

But the other side of a coin is that people can sometimes criticize realistic car, because they do not understand it. I don't remember which year was it - 2011 perhaps, when you could see Hamilton struggling with his new McLaren all the time at beginning of season. Car was horrible to drive, sliding all the time. I don't suppose he had an option to complain about physics of simulator, because it was in reality ;)

For me, realistic car in a simulation is not something that behaves the way I expect - it's something that behaves like the real car it's supposed to mimic. And cars do differ in reality a lot.
One of my colleagues is a champion of 2 series already, but when he participated in a Porsche Cup, he told us that car is difficult to drive and he wasn't as successful as in other series.

I can only imagine simracers complaining to ISI about Porsche being badly modeled if such thing happened to them :)

I usually first try to understand what's going on, before I criticize anything. The same goes for praising something.

Some people complain about C6, while I enjoy it a lot. Not because it's a Corvette, but because I can understand this car and it's balance - it makes perfect sense to me.
And don't let my avatar fool you - I'm not some kind of Corvette fan. It's just an avatar - got an idea for it when I saw Dark Knight poster ;)

LOL and I agree with this entire post, accept the avatar part :-P. Only because I had to turn avatars off. Thanks Nand Gate :-P

A specific car to be rate according to its behavior whether it is logical, makes sense or not is impossible in a sim. You can't judge specific values by feeling only, without the correct telemetry data to match.
The only thing possible is to compare the feeling with principles of vehicle dynamics in generall when you say it makes sense but you can't know if the behaviour of a specific car makes sense because you don't know if it is right. The definition in detail is only possible with data-matching. Even a judgment from a driver who knows a specific car well, is subjective when the result is just based on feeling.

Imho, If the feeling on the steering wheel speaks again the principles of steering behaviour then there is no need to go further and this is with the most vehicles so far. And that is the most important point when it comes to simulation and mimic a car before realism can be assessed. Not to mention, sense :)

First off, every individual should be able to drive rf2 they way want to. As has been said, we all "tailor" this sim to the way we want for our own pleasure and that`s the way it should be...

Personally, I like to keep as much realism in my sim driving as possible so therefor I`m one of the ones that will only drive historic tracks with historic cars... it just doesn`t feel right to me to be driving a MR01 on the historic version of Belgium for example... this couldn`t happen in reality today (certainly not as the track was back then anyway) so, for me, I don`t do that.

Driving historic cars on modern tracks can be done imo, although I don`t really do it, as this can be done in reality today.

Now some may think I`m bonkers or, that the way I like to do it is a bit daft, well that`s up to me I suppose.

Fantasy content is another matter... it`s all fantasy anyway so there is no reality of any kind. Personally I don`t tent to do much fantasy stuff either, although there are some excellent fantasy tracks around that I very much enjoy.

Anyway, just my two cents...

They are all fair points... to me it's just a matter of the approach for the way each person is playing.

For me, Isi and the mod teams do their best to "sim" the cars and "sim" the tracks, and from there I can simulate the conditions of X car on Y track.

For you, (correct me if I'm wrong here), you are looking to "sim" real events and therefore that dictates the criteria of X car on Y track.

Lol... the first thing I did was run a multi class event on the old Spa... I love the old long courses like Spa and Nordschleife. There is something special about racing at those Iconic locations and the modern courses have been dulled by safety concerns... I'm doing a season of F12012 and it is a good "sim" of the season but there is something... I'm not sure how to describe it... more Visceral about racing with no barriers, fences and houses at the side of road, with laptimes pushing 4-8 minutes... certainly a personal opinion... but there is something special about the old Courses that is rare to find today.

It's very cool to be able to "sim" it with any Car... The guys who actually did it ... Large T's or N*ts if you will... lol

As far as licensing, there are some nice possibilities on both the car and track sides. We'll be announcing two exciting high-profile licenses this month (track license acquired last year, car license signed this week). Both these pieces of content will most likely be high in priority for main production focus.

a little over 10 days left of the month, probably looking more forward to this announcement than the currently downloading Build 218 :p

Wow, this weekend will be awesome :D
- F1 @ Monaco
- Indy 500
- Kknorpp001 not posting new topics with very little use/info/etc :p (yeah I know, I don't have to read it..... ;) )
