    Hi all,

Im a racing driver from UK and know very little about computers. I purchased Rfactor 2 beta and went to install it on the Alienware mx11 laptop i purchased last year. Unfortunately i never looked at the minimum requirements and it will not run.

Can someone look on eBay or websites to link me a gaming PC at the lowest price possible, second hand or new. I have just purchased an ECCI CDS 4000 3 pedel setup with paddles. LINK HERE.

I want the game to run the best it can giving me realistic track detail and car detail, i want the best the game can give me on the lowest budget as all my spare funds go towards my real racing, F4.

    Any help appreciated.

    Dan

He said lowest possible price xD, so you really can't go wrong with Phenom II.

Add to this the best graphics card you can afford (I would suggest minimum GTX 560 Ti) and you will have a system capable of running this game and more. I run this motherboard with a PII 955 BE and it hasn't let me down. Paired with 2 9800GT's in SLI I can run rFactor 2 with very high detail.

The linked rig could be fine but you need a more powerful GPU as a Nvidia GTX560...or an ATI 6950.

SLI is a GPU technology developed by nVidia (CROSSFIRE for ATI) to link more than one GPU to improve performance...but if you have a low budget forget about it (and the motherboard inside your linked rig doesn't support it)...:)

i5 for gaming, I7 does nothing for you (no hyperthreading support for games)

get an i5, 8gigs of ram and a 69** or 79** series ati card and you should be away!

Ok looks like if i want a decent picture i need to raise more funds. I have a 24" Imac which cost me over £1,000, i i sell this for say £600, then with my original budget i should have over 1k.

Any recommendations on a rig around 1k which is around $1600

AMD Radeon™ HD 7770 2GB DDR5 Graphics Card < thats a pretty weak card! and for a 1000 thats madness.

    I've also built my own.

the i5/i7 are the same bar hypertheading with games sheldom use. windows 64bit supports more than 3 gigs of ram. its nothing to do with your cpu!

I've to agree about the 7770 and I really do not understand why they (DELL) put this card into the last series of top PCs. This is not a crap but my old 6870 run better than this...:)

BTW the best thing to do should be building a PC from scratch but Handsy said the he "know very little about computers"...so I'm trying to find something ready to use...

laptops and gaming don't go well together. ;)

Looks like you have some good advice in here already. I'd say build your own. It's very easy. I've never had problems. Always booted the first time I've powered up. :D

I'm very happy with my 7950 vid. card.

If you're going to build your own get a full size tower and a big motherboard. You'll need the big motherboard for when installing an after market cpu cooler. It just makes things that much easier.

What you need to do when going for a new gaming pc is first decide a price, second are you capable of building your own, if so then look around on the net on places like dabs or overclockers for the parts, or third if you would prefer a custom built one here is a link of a good reputable seller, I know this as I got one from him for my dad and was good.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-I5-...DesktopPCs&hash=item20c2eade69#ht_5198wt_1396

To let you know this spec pc will play the game very well it is what I would class as a good middle range gaming pc :) For a high spec machine like mine you will need to look in spending over a 1000 pound easily.

Why get a i7 with slower video card ?

You would get a i5 and spend 100 more on GPU obviously.

Sub standard case for SB and looks like a non 'K' chip so you miss out on heaps of grunt.

    Useless sim tower.
