Max turbo boost is 3.7, for anything above you have to tweak bios settings.

hi chaps, im kind of on the same boat as Handsy except ive made my order with pc specialst. at first i went with the i72600k, 8 gb ram, 2gb 560 gpu and a 650w psu. But after reading this thread amongst other s round the net ive changed my order to this, i5 2500k, same ram, changed gpu to a 560 ti and upped psu to 850w to cover me down the line.

Did i make the right choice to change spec, or should i have just left it how it was??????

Hi Mate i know what you mean. I will check that site out...

Ok guys can you help in telling me the difference between all the processors for example the ivygate and sandy bridge and all the different types of i5 and i7???

Whats the best processor for gaming around £200, and best mobo to go with it?

    Cheers Dan

I heard a lot of bad things for my beloved i-7 in this thread from knowing people im sure. I wonder, someone buys pc just for rf2?
I wouldnt be able to work without i-7 (CAD 3D rendering) and go near FSX at all.

that (which is very close to my system) will blow rfactor 2 out of the water when its finished, you might need to upgrade again in about 6-10 years depending on the market.

But that is a very highend system and will do everything you want :D

You could also save some money and get a non-k i5 and a 6950 which is just as good as the 79** series.

I have no idea when it comes to nivida, bar that they are more pricey...

well you have to go into bios for the stock 4.8 turbo setting, but you don't have to set all of the manual bios settings you do for 5.0

and I can do it in windows too if I like but I don't have an "Always Save" MB... with the Asrock Extreme Utility. ...

if you're rendering and doing heavy 3D, you're probably gonna want the i7... 4 extra threads.

yeah when I say heavy 3D I mean Cad/3D Model work. and I do that type of work but smaller residential scale... cars and houses. so my i5 gives me plenty. I don't do much rendering and when I do it's not a very large scene.

Cleverleysons post for a pc is pretty good, I would most certainly add a after market cpu cooler to the price, corsair hydros are ace work really well and easy to fit and dont take up loads of room like the top air coolers :)

if you wanted....i dont have one myself. its fast enough. Cooler wise yeah the stock one isn't great its fine for if you never overclock. Even Tim i think if i recall his system stats, has an i5 2500k :D

I went for something silly 8]

A nice 33C on idle and 60C at load @ 4.7 tho and on super slient mode :D, The stock does something near to that on stock settings so dont worry if you won't want too, but to be fair even at stock it was fast.

here are some more reviews which always help my mind.

    http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/motherboards/asus-p8z68-v-lx-1072516/review

The only bones i have about the setup i gave you is that if you wanted to go crossfire or SLI, you'll need a better mobo that supports 16x on both pci lanes or 8x at least (i think i recall reading its really hard for a single gpu hard to use the full 16x but dont hold me to that). this is what i went for, buts avast for more.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/338468-asus-m...55-hdmi-supremefx-x-fi-maximus-iv-gene-z-gen3

which has dual 8x ports but im silly and ive still only have one gpu...for now...see i'd want to get three screens and see if i needed another card instead of getting two and not needing the extra power, anyhow :D

and at least 850w psu for both cards at least otherwise they be unstable and the psu would be stressed. (you really only want a psu running at 85% and not 100% all the time)

I would also like to lastly add that even if you have that super system, Rfactor 2 still (in places) runs pretty bad, some examples would be on the grid at a start of a race. this also depends on your settings i think i have mine on high to full with AA x4 at 1920 x 1080, HDR. But its still very much un finished and i noticed a masively improvement from an phemon x2 555 BE which had only two cores.

its still needs work but it will be great. look at project cars which purs on my system (along with all the big tiles bf3, skyrim etc etc) its a shame project cars feels likes rubbish! also i reckon running 3 screens would be taxing to say the least, this is why i think isi might of picked this route for 3 screen support to which you wouldn't need all the candy!

    makes you think!!!

I have a 27 and its massive!!!! Dvi is just the pc version of HDMI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface it doesn't carry audio but its the same you get one with montors normally. anyhow normally the videocard will have dvi, hdmi too and should support 3 montors out of the box (using both connections 2x dvi 1x hdmi)

I did get this one this week tho!
    http://www.ebuyer.com/263934-asus-ve278q-lcd-led-27-hdmi-monitors-with-speakers-ve278q

its very very nice.....getting another two is racking my head in mind.

not sure about 3d it does nothing for me :D but ive never used it so who knows i think you need a 120hz mointor for that and those are pricey! I think the only thing that comes to mind is that tvs normally do 59hz instead of 60hz. Normally a pc looks better on a mointor. But each to their own i say.

I don't think 3D TV is worth the investment yet... it will get much cheaper later. as for monitors I have 3LG 24" LED LCD's and a 42" HDTV from Sanyo 1080p all the pictures are awesome... I would suggest using the HDMI. and I would suggest a HDTV to match your budget instead of a monitor. if you're skeptical about that... because the monitor will have better resolution, go to some place like best buy or some other big box electronics store and compare the screens to your eyes. I think you'll be pleased with a HDTV @ 1080p and I know you'll be pleased with the price.

I don't know that ISI supports 3d Vision yet or if they plan to.
