Intelligent Setup Advisor

When it comes to race cars, the vast amount of available options when developing a setup for a specific track and the personal driving style can be overwhelming - and this not only for the beginners. Most of us know some rules of thumb, for example: "Increase the rear wing angle to increase the rear stabiliity in fast corners and under heavy braking". But only a few of us know all the little tricks to create the best possible compromise for a given driver / car / track combination. And it will always be a compromise, since many requirements are contradictory.

Welcome to "Setup Advisor"...

This tool is a member of the Simulator Controller suite (more can be found here: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller). However, since this tool can be used independently, I can make it available to you here as an independent standalone solution, but also as an entry drug for the complete suite, so to speak.

[Update] The standalone version is no longer available for technical reasons. You must install the full suite, but the "Setup Advisor" can still be used independently.

Download:

Documentation: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller/wiki/Setup-Advisor

And now have fun with your Setups.

Installation: After downloading, unzip the ZIP file and place the "Setup Advisor" folder anywhere you like. In the Binaries folder you will find the "Setup Advisor" app. It will be best to put a shortcut in the Windows Start menu or in the taskbar.

This looks very interesting indeed.
I got a question if u don't mind...
Q : Does this use telemetry data to suggest changes ?

No, it uses your personal feedback, like: "I have understeer on slow corner entry."

It might be possible to use telemetry data as well, but this is a whole different story for most stuff. The only exception, I know of, are the rules of thumb for finding the correct settings for slow and fast bump and rebound damper settings depending on the recorded speed of suspension travel.

The tool has been updated. If you haven't switched to the full package, which supports automated update installations, please reinstall "Setup Advisor" using the download link above.

Hi and thank you for sharing this app.

Just a question, while I can choose which sim, In this case rF2, I can´t seem to choose which car or track. May I be doing something wrong?

Thanks

No, your doing everything alright. The general mechanism is there to differentiate between cars and tracks, but I didn't had the time to implement all the rules for all specific combinations. Therefore understand the rules as a genral advise and simply ignore those settings that are not available on your specific car.

Thank you for your reply, I´ll keep that In mind when using the app. Nice BTW, I am also new to the sim so this will be of good help and guidance.

Again, thank you for the effort of putting this together.

There's something new again. Setup Advisor can now read and edit ACC setup files. However, the implementation required deeper integration with other basic components of the "Simulator Controller" software package, so that the tool is no longer available independently for technical reasons. So you have to download and install the entire package, but you will also receive automatic updates in the future.
Of course, you can still use the Advisor independently without having to use the other components.

You can get the whole package here: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller#latest-release-build

The Setup Advisor now can compare setups and will show you the differences. You can even merge two different setups to create a new one with mixed properties for example when building a setup for mixed conditions in an endurance race.

As I mentioned above, the Setup Advisor is only available as part of the Simulator Controller tool suite, but it still can be used completely stand alone.

Sorry but this link doesn't work.....help me tahnk you

Yes, it has been mentioned in a later post:

The standalone version is no longer available for technical reasons. You must download and install the full suite, but the "Setup Advisor" can still be used independently.

If you really only want to use the "Setup Advisor", you can skip the setup after initial installation.

Okay, that is interesting. I am using the Google charts library to draw the graphics. For this it is necessary, that your computer is online. I think it is, right? The other difference is the language of your Windows. This is Spanish, right? I will install the language here and will check.

Do you have a Discord account, so that we can share some files?
