Hi guys, Well, back faster than I would have liked I installed some mods last night, the server seemed to be working fine. And now unable to access the server. It is visible on the redapg site link, but not visible on the community servers. And if I click on the redapg site link to join it, I get an error message : https://ibb.co/3Mh0ygM So, I uninstalled all the mods I had created. I also deleted all recently downloaded content in the game folders and server folders. It doesn't change anything. I would like to point out that I took the mods that I installed on Steam, and that I have known them for a long time, they worked very well in single player mode. For testing, I installed just now an official car (Tattus PM-18) and an official circuit (Loch Drummond). The server is called Tatuus Loch Drummond. But it no longer works at all. Any idea how I can fix this?
Not related to your new problem I found yesterday after testing that I was unable to connect to one of my servers. Exactly the same... shows in the fun4all listing but get same error when connecting. Doesn't show in rF2 as a server. At the I'm guessing - not tested - a firewall issue to be investigated later.
Sorry for your problem. Are you thinking about the firewall on your PC? About my problem, I did an integrity check of my RF2 files on Steam, and everything is ok.
Not on PC @Aslak but the router. PC ports show as open if tested on another local PC but not if tested from outside. I'm guessing that there's a problem on the router so am going to reenter everything again. The router doesn't clear entries that I'm not using so suspect possible "confusion" in the router rules. Reset to factory defaults and redo is my first step. I have other PCs running rF2 servers so I'll check those too.
Do you have the Steam dedicated Server on the same PC together with the "normal" Game? If yes, can you join the Server with a direct Link Shortcut over "LAN"?
Hi redapg ! Yes Steam dedicated Server is on the same PC with the normal Game. I don't see my server in the game when i select LAN. I can see my server on your website. But i don't know how to get the direct Link Shortcut over LAN. Can you please explain how should i do ? When you say : same PC with the normal Game. Does it mean that the game and the server must be exactly the same ? Becaause i have some tracks and cars in my game that are not installed on my server. But obviously, the mod i'm testing is installed on both game and server. @trichens, does you router new configuration solved your problem ?
@Aslak No, the Game and the Server don't have to be identical. But they, of course, should both have the Content installed that you want to use on the Server. BTW Do you use DLC Content now? To join the Server over a LAN Shortcut, do this: Go to the Folder ..\rFactor 2\Launcher and make a Rightclick with the Mouse on the Launch rFactor.exe and select "create Shortcut" Then rightclick on the new created Shortcut and select Properties. Enter the following into the Field "Target:" "G:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe" +multiplayer +connect="127.0.0.1:64297" or, if you use a Password: "G:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe" +multiplayer +connect="127.0.0.1:64297" +password YOUR_PASSWORD (there must be a Space between +password and YOUR_PASSWORD) And enter this into the Field "execute in:" "G:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher" You of course have to replace the shown Path G:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2 with your Path and if you use another Port than 64297, you have to replace that too. The IP has to stay as it is. If everything is done, click OK to save the Shortcut. Then shut down the Steam Client and start the Steam dedicated Server first. When it is running, doubleclick on the new created Shortcut. You should join the Server now.
Hi again. Looks like I have a weird issue that I may need to sort with my ISP. I have on my router a completely different external IP address to that given when I use a "WhatsMyIP" service. So "WhatsMyIP" gives a 185.x.x.x but my WAN IP - confirmed by ISP - is a 10.x.x x address. No idea why but I'm guessing that the community servers are showing incorrect connection details so when I try to connect it's using the wrong IP.

When you open the Single Player, click on your Name on the Top Right. A new Screen opens, where you can enter your Name and your Nickname. BTW Is your Server online? I wanted to try to join.

Server is offline. At least there is no Historic.... Server With the Name ..... i guess it's happening when you join a Racecontrol Server, right? You probably have to create an Account for it, to get the Name, that you use for the Account, being shown on the Server.
Hi ! Sorry for having server offline. Server name is actually "Sao Polo F1 1991" and he's online for the night. I promise that i'll fix his name soon I was testing with a friend who is far from here. It was very helpful. So, it works but with some tracks/cars couples but it doesn't with some other couple trascks/cars. For example, with Loch Drummond, it works with Tatuus PM-18, and with Ferrari 643 - 1991 v1.2LE. But, on track SaoPaulo 2013, nothing works (Tatuus or Ferrari). So i think that there are some couple tracks/cars that are ok, and some others not. We'll continue to investigate tomorrow and i'll get back with some other informations tomorrow. About name problem, i fiwed it by clicking on "Enfore Fulle Name" before launching server, and now it's ok View attachment upload_2023-12-20_22-2-45.png
@Aslak OK, when you have someone to test, i will not do it too, because i only get Content installed, that i don't use then. . And yes, it can happen that Tracks or Cars don't work properly on a Server. But i would not waste Time with investigating why. Simply use Content that Works. PS I didn't notice the new Checkbox for the Name yet.
@redapg You're right, due to the fact that i know this now, i will only use content that it works, simply. I think this is a very important point which can make one think that the configuration is incorrect when it is simply a car/circuit pairing which does not "match" for the dedicated server. In any case I would like to thank you again, and particularly you redapg and you also cheats for all the help you gave me
Quick update... it looks like my issues may have been caused by some strangeness with the external IP address. Router was showing one and the online services showed something different. I now have a fixed IP and with this set I now get connections OK
