I got about 10-15% fps drop with last build. GPU amd 7850 royal king 1gb memory. I haven't race last few weeks because of that. There is no way I could be able to use reflections even with one monitor. There is also huge variations in fps at some tracks like Portugal. Most of the time fps might be steady 70 but in some corners it drops down to 30-25. I will wait till the next build and hoping better fps performance.
Same here. I've had to turn off mirrors now because the fps hit is too big, which is not ideal. On another note, has anyone here with an AMD card successfully used Radeonpro's SMAA injector to good effect? I'm not sure how this works with rFactor2.
I can't second that, turn down to 8 - 12 cars visible causes a horrendous pop-up cars effect when the cars are close, this is really an awful issue. Minimum should be 20.
All I've noticed per each build is there's a "shimmer" going on that's getting a bit worse each time, a few builds ago was the best for me, still can't run 3 screens with the 670, gearjammer always delights in saying how wonderful it's always been running triples, I of course am always pleased for him each time that he mentions it, he can get the full benefit of RF2. Two in our club run triples with no problem, one with a far lower spek'd machine than mine and one a better than mine, makes no sense really.
Yes, when I have visible cars set to 12, I can only see a few cars ahead, and suddenly more cars pop-up. Maybe it's a bit unbalanced, too many cars visible behind you (in the mirrors) instead of in front of you. I don't know... But I prefer to have it set to at 16-20.
Yeh, your right guys... I should have made things more clear in my post. Personally, I try to have the visible cars set to the number I`m racing which is usually no more than 10. 10 cars - visible cars set to 10... 20 cars - visible cars set to 20... no pop ups.
Hang on let me get this right. 3 screens you got 60-80fps+ with a 7950 maxxed out How is that possible any build.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm...you have missed this by Gearjammer: " I run a 6950 and I am able to run triple monitor with pretty much everything maxed out and I get very smooth frame rates."! And this one is really makes me think think that there is something wrong with rFactor 2:
Just seems a bit high to me for triples was all. I pretty much got the same fps and overall performnce from build 45 till now with a relative sort of boost when I went from GTX460>GTX460SLi>GTX570>GTX670 .
Hi all, (My 1st post) Shadows is the main culprit for me, environment and road reflections off, everything else on high, except shadows on medium and shadow blur on optimum, i get a steady 60 most of the time, soon as i put shadows one up (High), i loose about 20 fps , this is on a i7 2700k with a 7870. One question anyone please, whats the difference between "Video, GPU" sync in my graphic settings tab, does this affect performance in any way?
Same for me. Always get decent fps, with lots of different settings, except for when the shadows are on.
thing is with Visible Cars unless you absolutley must have 20 visible at the race start then thats the only time you're gonna see them all, Oval racing of course the exception. Once a couple of laps are completed I rarely see more than 10 cars at any one time, therefore lowering this value helps to improve FPS and personally if the odd car pops in out at a far off distance I'm not bothered.
I hope i can help somehow i have the same GPU with i5 2500k and 8gb ram. I gained a lot by setting the game on windowed and disabling mirror. Right now i have : circuit detail high player detail full opponent detail high texture detail full texture filter 2x special effects high shadows high shadow blur optimal movies on sun occlusion yes rain drop yes road ref yes env ref yes wind and crowd motion yes visible vehicles 19 mirrors off (this gave me at least 10 fps) fov 28 AA 1 Sync software HDR on windowed (this one helped me to gain a lot of avg fps and stability) res 5760x1080 Sepang : first few corners 50 fps, after for the rest of the race 60 fps Monaco first few corners 30-40 fps, after most of time 45 fps, some sectors 55 fps and box straight 35 fps Both feel smooth even with the frame drop. I guess i can set texture to high thus increase avg fps specially in monaco and maybe even set circuit detail to medium.
Hate to state the obvious, but if you're driving with 10 cars on track you can have 'cars visible' set to 100 and it'll only draw 10, because there are only 10. Changing the setting to match the number of cars has absolutely no effect whatsoever.
