The posts below have zip files containing:

    1. 3dsMax file.
    2. DDS image (rename .txt to .dds)
    3. ReadMe.txt

Each zip file is its own (stand-alone) animation file.

The 3dsMax files are for max2010... so you may need to import them into your version.

The DDS image is just an example. To use your own image, just re-assign the gTex of the gMat in the Max Material Editor.

You may see multiple zip files for a given size. Each has the same parameters, but are a different animation, so... if you have them next to each other, the flags will NOT have identical movements.

I will post new files here as I make them.

Suggestions, requests, error reports, questions should be posted below.

Read the enclosed readMe.txt file for guidance.

    ..enjoy..

I used your "mycloththing" flag at Barber, and I was able to re-size it fine with no issues, so you may not have to post a bunch of different size flags.

Hey Coutie... thanks... didn't know that was possible.

You might want to post some instructions here on how it's done.

However... Each flag is animated with a certain gravity (earth's), fabric thickness, wind direction strength, bend limits, etc... So.. using a large thick flag or tent with more or less vertices will probably look more 'realistic' than re-sizing can achieve.

Still.. it would be handy for the community to know how to scale these animations when they need a specific size.

I don't exactly how I did it, but I think I only re-scaled the flag, and just set the animation to the flag animation. I was surprised it worked.

This is fantastic thanks again bink.

I have also re-scaled the ISI flags at Oran Park. I could only do it in 3dsimed and it worked ok if it wasn't a drastic scale. You can also clone and move the flags in 3dsimed without any issues. Try to load the flag in 3d max you loose the animation unless you have the bones. (which you don't get from a .GMT)

You may not need to do different animation styles for the same flag, because I have found that in game the flags or animations don't start all at the same time, so it does look like each flag is different.

Thanks to Nibiru & Coutie for the advice.

I've never tried to re-scale as it only takes a couple minutes to make a flag.

Moving them was doable in Max (as outlined in the readMe).

Got some banners (12m x 1m), tent-side/signs (6m x 3m), and other flags done... I'll make some other varieties, and try uploading again today. If it still won't upload, I'll ask Tim if he can alter the upload size rules for this thread (and perhaps make it a sticky).

How about pennants, triangular shaped flags?

Hanging banners & flags should be no problem (bound on top... or top and bottom).

Triangular... not sure... have to look at what I wrote for a few hours... not sure I want to do that just now.

You might try putting an image on it with transparent sections... see if that might allow for any shape. (? no idea).

If you manage to use alpha images, it would be good to post about it here (either way).

@Emery... Just tried a pennant (posted it above).

The animation works in 3dSMax, but I don't have rF2 available at the moment.

If you (or anyone else) tries exporting it... let me know the results.

I haven't tried it with anything this shape yet.. Should be ok.

If it exports, I can make some triangles (for tents and / or tent roofs ).

I tested pennant_1 doesn't look to bad (maybe a little to flip floppy). There is also a small break in the mesh through the middle of the pennant horizontally.
