Yes, leave that file installed. Cars should find that.

ignore that I was talking BS lol... I saw the new 2014 cars and they do have the rear gaps exposing the tyres. Nevermind my friend :)

p.s when you do an update I will lose all my name changes in the team file wont I?

please someone tell me,,im frustrated now.

I changed all the URD gt cars to their real names by creating single components for veh/sound.

when I try to do the same for the zr1 the sound doesn't work.???

why doenst the zr1 work same way as others?

Is there a way I could just update the teams/mas file rather than create whole components again.,. talk about the most frustrating way to go about doing a mod!!

Make it easier on yourself: Use the "Virtual Ride" AI car function, there you can give a driver and team name and assign a custom skin for each "Virtual Vehicle". The MinimalUI doesn't show car name, so it doesn't matter if you use that one. Then you can just pick and add AI to every race, and even with a mod update your AI cars will still work, they will keep the name change and everything is splendid.

Drop me a PM and I'll show you how to do it in more detail if needed.

I dont know now exactly how you changed it there actually. This components are bit of a mess, i wouldnt play to much around this stuff yet. ISI is planning to make bit more easy for adding skins and teams to any mod.

I extracted the teams file for each new car, then changed the name inside each cars textfile. Then created a new vehicle and sound component for each car (so no longer a multi comp) then installed. All works but the ZR1 I don't get ot at all..

Typically a modder does all his work in Devmode and devmode works 95% like rF1. The packaging process can be fully automated via batch files. But taking an existing mod and making changes to it is going to have more over head than rF1 did. But it really isn't that bad. I certainly wouldn't call it a joke. First off, there is no reason to repack the sounds if you aren't modifying the sfx file. Just extract the teams, edit/add veh files then update the MAS files and then rebuild the veh component only. I have a tool that makes this process as simple as double clicking on the MFT file and then change the component name to what ever you want and then click the package button. It will spit out a new rfcmp file in the same folder. Then just install that new rfcmp. Read up on it here: http://isiforums.net/f/showpost.php?p=259911

I am not sure what your problem is with the C6R. Maybe the fact that it is a MultiCmp? For the C6R, just install the multi like normal. Then go into the installed folder and edit the teams MAS. Then double click on the MFT to open it in my tool, change what ever you want and then click package. So the sounds should work fine as long as the original multi is still installed. If you want to create a stand alone sound component, just go into the sounds folder for the c6r, double click the MFT, DO NOT CHANGE ANY DETAILS, then click package.

The sfx files reference the sounds by the name of the sounds component. So if you alter the component name then you will also have to go into the sfx file and do a find and replace to match the new component name.

So do u change the car names in your program or in the mas first.?

So extract mas, edit names save over mas then open in your program.

    Yep.

    Extract teams MAS
    Edit/add veh files/skins
    Refresh the teams MAS
Double click on the MFT file
Change component name to what ever you want
    Click package
    Install new rfcmp

No need to uninstall the old rfcmp if the new one has a different name.

    1) Open Vehicle in Car Selection/Tuning Screen
    2) "Create Dir"
    3) Add Custom Skin to the directory, or click "reload" and it will drop the current vehicle skin as ALT.dds
    4) "Generate new vehicle" button is now available.
    5) Type a driver and team name.
    6) done.
