Think I may have found a track limits issue at Croft. made a completely illegal overtake by going off track at the Complex before the Harpin and did'nt get an instruction to give place back or a penalty, did another one straight after at the chicane after Hawthorn (same thing, offtack, corner cut overtake) and it registered and instructed me to give place back. Do have to say though the A.I. did an amazing job of avoiding me when I dived over the corner! Here's the video footage, hope its useful! (Skip to 28:25 to 29:22 in the video for example) Also, when leaving pits the A.I. absolutely will not budge from their racing line which is hard up against the pit rail gaurd, bit worried this will cause problems. Will try a long race with pitstops there, accelerate time and watch to see what happens with A.I. cars leaving pits and report back
My guess is you were ahead of the AI before you left the track. AI not avoiding other cars coming out of the pits is known.
No, check the video clip, the Green & White Infinity was infront of me before I left the track and I came back on infront of him after cutting the corner offtrack, thats an illegal overtake no? Good to hear the A.I. pit thing is known
This is fantastic, material for my wet circuit racing onboards haha Can't wait to add new items to my collection. I loved a lot Croft mod track, but that mod will have to go now. Same goes for Thruxton.
Who doesn't remember that? At that time I played this game with my residents in the youth center every day. What were we philosophizing about back then? One day we'll get these cars with great graphics and absolutely realistic behavior. Today I drove the Hyundai for the first time on Croft in rF2. It was so cool, so realistic, so rFactor2... in training, to get to know the track, the scenes from back then, with Toca on the PS1, came to mind. What S397 has set up here is simply awesome! It's just fun to push these melee machines to the limit on the track. Coupled with the best physics and the best FFB, it's more than just a substitute for real motorsport. It is indeed a fulfillment for any avid SimRacer. I just love it!
What is fecking fantastic though is that itodays hotfix has fixed the hole in the track limits system at Croft that allowed me to make an illegal overtake at the complex just before the harpin, without getting a penalty or being instructed to give the place back! (just tested it twice, its definately fixed!) Bravo S397! This track limits system is the best i've seen in any sim!
This is still causing problems indeed, can't race here with A.I. as they just crash into each other on pit exit. Is this gunna be fixed? Tracks been out a while now, seems its been forgotten about..
It's not a content fix I'm afraid. And I did post that previously. It's symptomatic of deeper issues with the ai code and them being unaware of cars driving on different paths.
Thanks very much for the reply! So its not something likely to get fixed until the next update i suppose then? I know big strides have been made this year with long standing A.I. issues which have been so long awaited and so much appreciated! So is this something that can be addressed with build updates to existing AI code or is it more a case of the entire A.I. code needing a complete overhaul? There are also big problems with A.I. at ovals when using the Indycar IR 18, pretty much impossible as no matter how much room you give them they will still kinda ignore you and bump you into a big smash.
