Hello sim racers, The latest Q4 2022 track announcement is here, and it's Croft! Full details here: https://www.studio-397.com/2022/11/announcing-croft-circuit/
I don't know how many hours I put into feels3 version of this track with the ISI Skip and Clio Cup but loved every moment of it. Looking forward to the S397 version of this track.
That track with the Clio Cup was where I first started with rFactor 2, and it remained my go-to combo for a long time. Those were good times.
For those wondering what BTCC circuits are available... Donington Park - official S397 DLC Brands Hatch - official S397 DLC Thruxton - odb workshop, conversion of Lasercutter's rF1 version [update: and there's the Thruxton annoucement for official S397 DLC after Nov 7!] Oulton Park - odb workshop, conversion by Digga, Nuno Lourenco enhancements Croft - official S397 DLC (after Nov 7) Knockhill - Lasercutter workshop Snetterton - not in workshop... google for SenorMen conversion Silverstone - official S397 workshop
Vanwall lmh remains top reveal of Q4 for me, its ofc my opinion but looking at some onboards croft isn't my cup of tea. looks like i will be in minority in saying that bharain is better track than croft. but hey its proper laser scanned track so, should be very detailed, also community loves its so looks like a win.
Croft is alot more technical than it looks at firtst glance. You can give it a try for free on f33ls version, that was a benchmark track for rF2 when it was released. It still feels nice driving that track eventhough it wasn't laserscanned.
thank you for suggestion, truly at first glance it didn't appeal me. tbh all tracks are challenging even monza. maybe i will give free version a try, so far im busy setting up indycar. too many setup options to tweak.
Same for me, there are still so many great circuits to scan (Suzuka, Barcelona, Budapest, Paul Ricard, Imola, Muguello, Hockenheim, Zolder, Kyalami, Interlagos, Austin, Watkins Glens... and I forget) but hey it takes for everyone
Good Golly, that is like comparing a wide smooth bowling alley in the desert vs a sinuous snake across the British Countryside. VWV was more of a surprise, I'm still wondering if we will see one more BTCC car...Vauxhaull(chevorlet?) Cupra Leon(Seat? See-At?), or Honda(Acura?) ((plus the remaining three or four GT3 cars of course!))
I have to say that thanks to rfactor2, I really got to like Brands and Donington. The feel and visuals of the tracks are just state of the art, and they fit really well with the BTCC cars, With Croft it's perhaps the same. I hope it will be fun with small cars like BTCC or the Mini. Not my favorite track but one I look forward to.
the surface type vs corner variety , latter take cake in my liking. i think croft is too much of right hander same(ish) turns, just like donington(actually donington is more worse it has fake corners that are easy flat so i don't count them) bharain all turns are very unique imo. in british tracks i like outlon and snetterton more. Regarding next car i'm betting honda. honda , bmw and vanwall bharain looks like one of the best pack relative to others.
Brands never used to appeal to me as a sim track, but when S397 released it I fell in love with it. Easily one of my top 3 rf2 tracks now, it's just so well done and visually beautiful.
For me, Croft is a great little circuit that ends up proving a much more complex and rewarding driving experience than initially you might expect on paper. It's got that mix of technical and relatively high speed turns, while being a little bit more raw and requiring drivers to refine their accuracy and consistency - basically, it's got a bit of everything all packaged together in an old school vibe. Perfect modern track, perfect vintage track. Bloomin brilliant!
Paul Jeffrey from South Yorkshire UK. Croft circuit from UK Spoiler I'm joking btw. tracks , cars... to each of their own
