Reading all this makes me desperately want to try out the new build with my own t500. Only just tried it with a G27 at a friends place so far, so I can't compare yet. On a side note: for me personally, after coming from a g27 and being able to make a good comparison now, the difference between the two wheels and thus the driving experience is enormous, in favor of the t500. For all that wish a higher end wheel but can't afford it, I hope someday you will. And for those who rather leave out the option of a higher-end wheel, I can only strongly recommend you to reconsider as you don't know what you're missing☺

my subtle feeling is I can feel a different behaviour with build 798 in terms of physics and or tires. On the other hand the reason for that could be also that I have tweaked some settings in my previous install and now I use 95% default settings.
    Who knows :p
In any case it feels good and because of this it is ok for me :)

I tried junior Karts, skippy, Williams F2, Lotus BT20 , but was not able to pinpoint noticeable differences, but my PC and my wheel are not top notch, so, there is a good chance that I miss subtle differences.
But RF2 is growing and improving, the simple fact that I can jump on a X car and drive it around the track, tell me that the feeling the simulation give are good, otherwise I would go straight at almost any turn like I did in RF1. Not that this doesn't happen, but when it happen, I know that I'm going too fast or that my driving is sloppy and dorky.

Thank you. Man a flight sim would kill me atm, as Arma would as well, where i had ARMA I-II but never bought III. :)

Maybe i'm not the sort of user i tought i where and i I have missed the point. I was actually more concerned with data files than i actually was using the things. However, the break was too long and the things are to me now too complex to get in again.

Maybe i should have continue with modding something than to try to be a driver. Ok i wasn't bad at all but nowedays i feel like a beginner in both cases, anyway a bit lost in the space and to tired to start from the scratch. I really should give it a break or take a simple car to have some casual fun, if it will ever happen again to feel at home on a virtual track in a virtual car, i really don't know. I've seen so much cars in the reality, driven hundreds of different road, performance, sport cars and had my hands on, and so much different technics that i'm even bored from my profession as a master. I even stopped to expand my knowledge some times ago. It's all so boring after more than 2 decades of car BS. At least anything destroyed my enthusiasm and i'm not sure what it exactly was, but sure is the online activity in recent the years since the beginning of the next gen sims has greatly contributed to it. ;)

Don't know but the communitys are almost sleeping or destroying themself by little child wars over the time, as they do before it really starts, while the next gen sims are still in developement. The childish behaviour all over the place is doing the rest. There was nothing new for years, than there is a explosion of software developement and everybody is fighting each other, while they actually all loving the same ****. Odd but that's human, my ...... is bigger than yours, until somebody get killed.

Ah and again, i have the feeling something is different, feeling wise with rf2. :)

After I did the update, I did some testing to see if there where any FPS differences etc and while I was driving, I firmly believe that I could feel that my tyres were underinflated, so I agree with what you say about the "bouncy" feel they have.

So far I was only in friendly communities, but it would be nice to have a more central spot. There are enough drivers out there to get a big field, but they are all spread all over the place.

Yes they are mostly spread around. ISI needs something like iRacing. The single communitys are mostly fine if you know the right one but the simracing community as a whole is a desaster.

No news about the tires here. :)

When the Lienz track was released, I ran it a lot, and ran it on almost all of the builds.
I ran it a couple of weeks ago in the last beta build.

I ran it this morning in current build. I used the Megane- seems to have always fit the track well - to me the track feels totally different. A little icey, but, at the same time I could feel the road texture and what the tires were doing. Strange compared to how it used to feel.
    Tires?
    Placebo?
I can only assume that some have spent time trying to tune their wheel and some not. Not even saying I'm a wheel specialist, I just run a lowly DFGT. Could be I just stumbled into a lucky feeling, or Placebo.

Lienz is one of my favorite track, I run it with Spec Miata, Clio, F3 Eve (a lot with F3 Eve), Lada, Ostra, 240z and Hakozuka, Civic....mmm ok, stop here, all cars but Megane...I think I forget to run it with Megane so far..Ok, let's try.

Something is different, causing the perception and the feeling in generall because the so called linearity option in the controller file responds diff as well.

Don't know if it's related to the tire patch in work or the FFB output but the result differs from what my memory tells me with the similar values as before. I also can't reduce the output by extrem low values.

    edit: look here http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.p...diting-is-possible-in-rF2?p=294966#post294966

You're right, something is different, either FFB output or tire patch. Something. I need to go thru controller ini again and see if maybe they added something, maybe not in ini. might be in code.....but something is different.

..... or maybe that terrible word - Placebo.

    Bottom line.. we don't know.

What I feel that if work was done to the tyre model, that would be a fairly major thing in terms of the work performed, and would have been noted in the changelog. You wouldn't remember to log the tiny little typo bug regarding the realroad, and then forget all the work done on the tyre model.
That's just how I'm thinking anyway, until ISI say something in this thread. Human perceptions are notoriously unreliable sometimes XD

Why they should talk about ? That could generate a bad publicity if it isn't statisfying people and it is much more intresting to the developer to see if people really feel something or just talk around as many just do, otherwise many people would feel the bad as well, but they don't, rather setup the steering wheel toy like, as example and don't feel many other things the tires do not so well, or the ffb feeling it generates, what ever is the more weak or unfinished one, while both are good and contantly evolving but not optimal yet in my opinion :)

Bottom....line....it's still the most immersive simulation, and to say this, i'm very impressed by the work the guys do with rf2. :)

I'd be surprised if they are running some kind of social experiment as a side project, but hey, I'll just wait and see if they do make comment on it. :)
As a side note, bad publicity could also arise from not actually listing those kinds of things in the release notes, if that ever was admitted publicly. People want to know what has changed between this and the old version, and they don't want to be told later on that there were fundamental changes to the way the tyres are working that were unannounced for the build. Tyres, one of the most important things in racing and simulating racing.

Tim has made mention before of the effect of framerates and input lag on peoples driving. For all the people I see posting saying "finally, it's running at 60fps with no stuttering", I bet that would cause a greatly different feel to them. Not the case for everyone of course, but it's something I always think about.

Of course many people like to know every detail and i can understand that, it's ok but i would do it exactly like i said and i like it as user as well. It's a sort of competition which sometimes ends embarrassing when the placebo gets one. :)

As a side note....feeling is no prove for something major is changed but a good feeling if it was so, and u felt it before you read any changelog. :) It also could caused by any performance udate, bug eliminating of the engine what makes things more fluid.

I felt it first lap out. Plus the data doesn't lie.

What I noticed is that collisions are much improved. I was testing Fr3.5 at Loch Drummond, and slammed quite hard.. wow, the car flipped in the air in a convincing manner considering how fast I was going and the bad impact angle.

Yes that's right. I would have felt in the first meters when i was still driving every day, but i couldn't say wat's the cause without special data record because i'm no physchic as nobody is, as i'm not using any toys on screen for children. I find this all distracts from the essential, particular from the feeling. Yes for analyzing purpose it is ok to use and who likes it, i don't. If you mean checking any data files or something like motec, that's another story, that's more professionell and ok. I hope u have not the half of the screen looking like a christmas tree or a car with lots of OBD errors flashing in the cockpit. :)

To stop this absurd especulation. Your argument for not providing info is just ridiculous. Is it better to stay in this uncertainty? I guess not.
The sim is in development and it is the most normal thing that some features get improved, especially tire model which has several things incomplete such as tire heating and cooling (in rain it is awful IMO). I haven't tried driving in the new build so I cannot give my opinion. Hopefully, some ISI staff will confirm or deny whether changes in the tire model (and/or FFB) have been introduced or not. Hopefully that will happen before more time is WASTED especulating............
