Here's a couple of questions myself and im sure some others would really appreciate some answers to. Your reply would be greatly appreciated ISI. Is there support for Kart specific physics in the RF2 engine? any ISI Karts in the making? Will Chassis Flex be simulated? Will there be weight Shifting? (via controller inputs perhaps) Does the engine support Kart specific Geometry, axles etc? Will seat position effect cog/balance etc? I don't know everything about Kart dynamics but i tried to ask the most pertinent questions i could think of, if theirs anything i have missed please chip in guys and add your questions about Karts. Kind regards
Ideally what i'd like in a Kart Sim *Choking *tuning Carby jets- This could work well with different weather conditions simulated in RF2 *Some Karts you can stiffen/soften the chassis on the fly. *when low on fuel in most Karts i've driven you get exaggerated engine 'thirst' (only word i can think of atm) when going around corners. * Simulate 'jacking' effect on inside rear wheel, more so than sprung vehicles. In general Karts feel to too 'light' in sims. yes they are light in weight but the feedback and g forces are freakin heavy in real life.
I know this one all to well. This drove me up the wall during a practice session once..Every time i turned right the engine lost power due to not being able to pick up fuel. It took me a while to figure out wtf was going on.. before which i thought the kart had a gypsie curse placed upon it or something. If i remember correctly in rl the kart wont turn without lifting the inside rear wheel, which is done partially by lowering the outside front caused by steering geometry during turning the wheel and partly by loading up the weight of the kart to the outside and front via braking/turning. Didn't chassis flex have a part to play in the jacking effect ??
There's a kart in this picture And in the Auto-Update section of the rFactor 2 launcher, there's a picture of two Karts racing
Chassis flex plays a big role in karts, especially in lifting the inside rear wheel. Since Karts don´t have a differential this is a must to get around corners without heavy understeer and tire scrubbing. I believe I have read somewhere that chassis flex is possible with rFactor 2 now, but I don´t know if it was heresay or an official statement. Knowing chassis flex wasn´t implemented in rF1, I couldn´t be bothered with Kart mods for it. Cheers, Marcus
at Skynet: - what do you mean with "kart-specific physics"? - Karts are planned by ISI, yes. - Chassis flex will come in later builds (they showed already and said that) - weight shifting,- good question! Done anywhere before in sims? - the engine supports every geometry, physics and connections you can think of I would say. - yes it does, respectively it is fully adjustable. Greets Pete
Yes. Yes. No idea. No idea. No idea. No idea. Karts are coming fairly soon, I'll ask more questions about it to them, so I am better versed, when I see they are more actively working on them.
Thanks Tim. cant wait! =))))) @Pete, by Kart Specific physics i just generally meant things that are in the rf2 engine solely for building karts, like transmission types, chassis, axle etc. If you could link me to some info on the chassis flex that would be great. I must have missed that =/
No, sorry! I remember that Tim wrote somewhere that chassis flex is planned, but could be 1 year ago. And I mean to remember that in one early preview-vid there you can see something like chassis flex (I might have dreamed that). Greets Pete
