If I pick "Green," I still get the Naturally Progressing Real Road. I love Real Road and think it is a great feature, but because it is accelerated to probably 10 times the normal level (for testing), it is nice to turn it off, too.

    Is it just me?

Actually I think 'green' means that the track is green when you enter track in the first session, not that it's supposed to be green all the time. I don't know if it's possible to turn real road off.

It's true that it's accelerated though... But don't know if that has been confirmed by ISI. Maybe they think it's realistic as it is, I don't know :p

So is 'green' naturally progressing but in real-time?

'Green' means the RealRoad data is not carried over to the next session. They both progress exactly the same.
I don't think there's an OFF switch anymore other than in Dev mode.

I hope they never fix that "known issue" because a green track blows. I do wonder though if the accelerated realroad isn't accelerating tire wear also- most mods have crazy front tire wear that has been noticed not only by me, but most people I talk to say the same. It's always the fronts.

Guy, both us and modders should be shipping tracks now with a lightly rubbered layer. Green should be optional (second) choice really IMHO.

Is there a way we can see how much % of the overall line is rubbered in? It would be nice if we could form some sort of standard where the base track we supply has a 10% rubbered track for example :)

and maybe we can have a switch where the "accelerated" RealRoad can be adjusted like tyre wear or time (2x,5x,..).

Very good point. If you are going to accelerate time, weather, tire wear and mechanical damage then don't you also have to accelerate rubber?

And could you confirm what is happening now, in 218, per my original post?

Not really, as different sections would have different amounts, that is why the tech works based on where cars have driven. For example if you run laps, and overshoot a turn 50% of the time but were perfect elsewhere, you might have the track 100% rubbered in, but that turns proper racing line could be much less...

    knownissues.txt already confirms this. :)

How about being able to set an initial percentage of "rubbered in" amount to the entire track surface at the start and then letting the real-road play out as usual from there? Or is that already the/an idea?

That's the idea of the light rubber layer.

Which would be only on racing line? Or affect whole width of the track?

So light rubber would be our default starting grip level? What about the rain? If it rains after long session of practice with lots of people, does it go back to green?

Ah yes this makes sense. Then the easiest solution would be to have a field of AI do 5 to 10 laps I guess :)

That confirms it is an accelerated rate. It doesn't address my question at the top of this thread, which already acknowledged the accelerated rate.

I agree with you that for races, a totally green track is probably unrealistic. For Practice sessions at least, though, you should be able to dial-up anything you want. I would accept "Naturally Progressing" at a normal rate as a minimum in a nod to realism. As others have said, it makes most sense to be able to select appropriate scaled options just like time, failures, weather and so on.
