here's a future addition to the pack, #4 Yves Forestier from coupe nationale. Though it annoys me that the original has some kind of checkered decal on the roof but cant see what it is - found a picture of the roof logo
found out the mod will be used here https://simracing-gp.net/series-295 (so no update to steam until thats over in end of august.)
And found a great source of historical color photos for liveries http://fabrice1093.canalblog.com/al...eur_/photos/63389043-rogor.html#lg=1&slide=41
More historical liveries from "Coupe Renault 8 Gordini" Still missing the driver names for these, but I have tried asking around to get some answers. I have at least 4 more I want to make. Will be included in next update, after SimRacing-GP Gordini series is over, which is end of august.
The Simracing-GP R8 gordini series is finished, and what a great fun with a big field of participants, really enjoy to watch and race. Now I will update the mod a couple of times over the next weeks. At the same time, I sometimes could use some test drivers feedback on the physics changes. I have some small changes I want to introduce but these changes might change the feel a bit, so not just to push it out, it could be nice to have some feedback first. I would prefer someone who have spend a reasonable time driving it already. Updates in the next weeks will be.. adding 15 extra skins changing small irregularities in gear ratios Adding more settings to radiator cooling Raising center of gravity. (could use feedback on feel) I have also thought of removing some of the optional final drive options (the lower one), since I cant find documentation for these anywhere in historical documentation. (could use feedback on experience)
Just curious... Removing the lowest final drives, raising center of gravity and adding more drag to the radiator to have more effect on different radiator settings. All this sums up to make it 1½ - 2 secs slower on a small track, is that an acceptable change? I need to test the radiator some more, to make sure it does not overheat at middle radiator setting (3) you're welcome to try out this test version v. 0.83.8 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_p2aZNEc_49gL8YK0KQCtnhTlIOwEyTT/view?usp=sharing When I have tested it some more and maybe getting some feedback, I will bump version to 0.84 and release it to steam. I have also tried to make the engine more vulnable to overheating and wrong gearshifts.
This was a rally car, but the two sets of photos here are very nice and might show a detail here and there that could be useful: https://www.motor24.pt/sites/jornal-dos-classicos/renault-r8-gordini-um-campeao-natural-2/1580352/
V.0.84 now updated to steam Changes in version 0.84 Gearing - Fixed minor ratio adjustments to fit historical data. - Removed lowest final drive 6/29, since it is too fast and I couldnt find any historical documentation for this. - Kept final drive 9/35 optional use for larger tracks, though also have no documentation for this. Engine - Small engine temperature fixes, to make it more vulnable to overheating. - Will start to overheat at 110c and it will not last long when it's overheating. - Big misshifts in gearing will now break engine. - Added more radiator settings to better control overheating, optimal would be 3-5 depending on duration and weather etc. - Added more radiator draft, which makes the car slower but will also give you more slipstream speed when you try to overtake. General physics - Raised center of gravity from 0.225 to 0.285. Liveries - Added 15 "Nationale coupe" liveries. I might group them better in the future, but for now they are all in one list. - Added "Nationale coupe" driver names to those I could match up, and else random on liveries. Tires - wear temperature have been lowered but I'm still testing these. Would like to give it even quicker wearrate. Templates - 3 templates are now added to correct location. Livery, windows & helmet. Bugs - AI are still slow at starts. Get it here as a rfcmp https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/renault-8-gordini.59951/ Or automatic update at steam https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2969580318
I really like this mod. There are 3 homologation forms on FIA's website. I don't know if you know about them, but I put them here anyway. They are at the bottom of the pages. https://historicdb.fia.com/car/renault-8-gordini-1300-r-1135 https://historicdb.fia.com/car/renault-8-gordini-r1135 https://historicdb.fia.com/car/renault-8-gordini-r-1135 Maybe it can help you with a couple of things. With gearing, for example. Great work!
Thx. I found another one with fewer gear ratio settings. It was those historical data I adjusted the gearing from, and from my red sparepart book where the teethnumbers of each gear wheel is documented. But will save these for further reading.
Oh well, details. It's quiet similar, though not exactly the same as in the homologation forms. Anyway, keep up the good work, and thank You!
i know the mod is still beta but will there be moving hands of the driver in the future .nostalgic mod thanks a lot
About moving arms and hands. Every time I try to dig into this, I hit the wall. I just cant get it to work, my biped skeleton is not 100% inline with the skin and when trying to do the animation something goes wrong. Its 20 years since I learned about animation and cant remember most of it and that I can remember have been moved to other places etc. I have tried watching videos to get it refreshed but no good. I have also tried to add animation from other cars but I could'nt succeed. I ended up with the conclusion, I wont spend more time getting this fixed. If someone want to do the work they're very welcome. The car has a steeringlock at 720 and SteeringDegreePerFrame=2.0. It could also be another driversuit file as long as it respect to be not too modern design so no F1 style. Here's my 3dsmax file https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N__Dsu467_8xHaera69H8A9DbxQ5hC5A/view?usp=sharing
Status of the project Tires From time to time over the last 4 months, I have tried to adjust the tires, with a grand wish to give them faster tirewear and maybe less grip. But every time it ended up ruin its distinctive original feel and "slow" speed, and I wont compromise that. If anyone wants to mess with the tires you're welcome to give it a try and send me a test. Interior mesh Dont know If I get energy to fix the interior, but its not a big problem unless you're in VR and look around. Maybe some day. Bug fixes I have found a few bugs I want to correct, and will do if I can. - AI have slow starts (cant figure out why) - Sidemirror could use a better outer mesh, and move it a bit so it doesnt penetrate interior. - Warning leds, not all are working correctly. - No light in dials at night. Other stuff Maybe make more liveries and class them in correct years from the french R8 Coupe seasons 68,69,70. My guess is I have done about 30 of the cars below, so plenty to do in the future.
