this may of already been mentioned/tried, but in case not: - Install Previous (working) build - Install 998 to a separate location - Copy Previous Builds UI folder - Paste over 998s UI Folder it may or may not work! or vice versa: - Install Previous (working) Build - Install 998 to a separate location - Copy entire 998 apart from the UI folder - Paste over the Previous Build it may or may not work!
Another idea: - Make a new UI background template and install it into the Previous Build - Update that Build via the launcher to 998 (It should remember your "new" UI Background
B1K3R, if you really want to figure out what's going on it's time to create a log file with Process Monitor. You can download it here. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb545027 Run ProcMon. Click ok to accept the current filter list. It immediately starts to log every windows event (we configure a filter later). Run rF2. Alt-Tab back to ProcMon and scroll through the list of events until you find the Process Name "rFactor2.exe". Rightclick rFactor2.exe and select 'Include rFactor2.exe'. This creates a Filter to show only rF2 events. Save the log file (Events displayed using current filter - PML format). Upload the file. In my case a rF2 start to a working UI creates a 60MB log file (3.6MB zipped in 7z format). Here is a video that gives you a better overview what you can do with ProcMon and the other sysinternals tools.
To try it out, here is the Build 982 UI as comp. -Install it with the Launcher. -open the player.JSON and edit the follwing lines from: "Options Component":"rFactor2 UI", "Options Dir":"", "Options File":"UI.OSC", "Options Version":"1.0f", to: "Options Component":"UI_Build982", "Options Dir":"", "Options File":"UI.OSC", "Options Version":"1.0", -start the game and see if that changed something Download UI from Build 982
Here is what I figured out so far. When you start rF2, the game creates the fonts for the user interface inside the "log" directory. In your case "D:\Games\rFactor2\UserData\Log". This folder should be empty (except from the CBash, Results and Shaders folders) when you start rF2, but it seems the ttf files are there and they are write protected. Delete all files inside "D:\Games\rFactor2\UserData\Log" and try to launch rF2. If it doesn't work rightclick the rF2 Launcher and select "Run as Administrator".
Damn...that didnt work either. Made sure folder is read/write and also has permissions and tried with admin too. Thanks again Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Not good news mate. I didn't try the new build yet. Whats your hardware specs maybe we can find something in common? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Sure, here are my specs. CPU: Intel i5-3570K GPU: Nvidia GTX570 RAM: 8GB OS: W8.1 - 64 Bits I do wanna note though, that I am using build 946 aswell for league racing, which is working just fine.
Hmm, my specs are quite different. Nothing much in common hardware wise. Yeah older build works for me too. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Hi mate, I finally solved it! Hope it works for you as well. Have you lately changed some regional settings!? So basically, in my case it was the regional settings screwing up the game. I develop apps and to test my stuff, I change the regional settings a lot, currency formats, decimal formats etc. In this case, I custom changed the decimal format to a comma a few weeks ago to test something. It seems that this screwed up some code in rF2. I set the default OS regional settings as it was originally and bang! rF2 worked Hope this will be useful
