[REL] World Sportscar Championship 1964 by Storm Gang Simulation

We're very pleased to announce our brand new historic mod: World Sportscar Championship 1964! See the reveal trailer here:

Right off I was thinking wouldn't it be great if the had a 904?
Bada-bing first car out. Excited to say the least. Fantastic video, Spencer Davis would be proud.
Drove one once.
One of my neighbors owned and raced one.
Dr. Carl Armstrong was an black neurologist and had two sons one a childhood friend (Karl, RIP).
I also grew up racing karts in the 60's and bought a well used Formula V when I was 18. Rebuilt it and got my SCCA license.
Dr. Armstrong had a rental day with a few other at Nelson Ledges and invited me.
This is 1974 so naturally we drove the car to the track. I put about 50 laps on the car that day probably 10 as hard as I could.
Once you mastered the trailing throttle oversteer the car was easy to drive. He kept it box stock other than brake pads.
Ran across this video of the car recently, ironically the same year I retired in Arizona.

 

Im not particularly into older racecars but this trailer got me excited.

Thank you for the feedback and for sharing that wonderful experience with the car. We'd love to have you join us for even just a few of the races we run for the season. They are condensed format (eg 24 hours of Le Mans = 2.4 hours of Le Mans) with most being around 70-90 minutes long. The championship will have all kinds of rounds like they ran that year, some including hill climbs and rally stages. And there's a large pool of talent and driver types so you'd be sure to find someone who would be a skill match and have fun competing. Or just enjoy racing the cars. And we'd be thrilled to incorporate any feedback you have about the car into the mod.

The mod is released now but will be uploaded to the public workshop at the end of the season. This is part of our exclusive deal with Champion Motorsports. But anyone may download the mod now.

 

I had joined the Champion Motorsports server at Discord long time ago, but the link to download this particular mod don´t look as available. My name there is Arturo Pereira.
Anyway, don´t worry. I won´t be able to race till late March/early April 2024.

 

It's an annoyingly long process to get to the download. As I recall, first find the announcement of the mod/series after expressing interest in rF2 stuff, click a link taking you to a survey. After completing the survey, then it takes you to a payment link (payment not required), and finally to a Steam workshop page. Hopefully you remember your Steam login because you can't just use the Steam client to get to this same page. Anyway, at that point you can subscribe to the mod.

 

I searched in the Champion Motorsports forums at Discord and could only find one (1) place that seemed to send me to the link, but it was not active, or I have a problem with my account, or whatever the reason, I could not go further.
There are lots of mods available now to enjoy without having to pass such an audition to download it. I know about that survey. Last time I completed it, I waited for weeks without an answer till I lost all interest in the thing. I raced at that league for years but now it seems to be easier to be accepted as a NATO member than to be member of that league. End of the story for me.

The steps to download are

• Click the discord link at the top to sign up to CMS discord
• Go to sim role selection and click the rf2 icon at the bottom of the first post
• Scroll down to Saturday's rf2 vwsc then links-downloads-wsc channel
• Scroll to the 2nd post vwsc64 series info and click on the link under cars
• Fill in the form and donate or not (I recommend giving a small donation, the mod is well worth it)
• It sends you to workshop and subscribe
• Enjoy incredible cars and consider joining the league at CMS

Oh yeah! Good to see you back. It's likely not showing because you don't have the rF2 role in that Discord server. If you react with the rF2 logo in #sim-role-selction, it will open up all those channels.

 

Yes, we're focused on getting the 2024 modern sportscars updated before swinging back through for another wave of updates that includes wipers, optimizations and graphical enhancements. Depending on timing, there may also be performance tweaks but part of the reason we're partnered with CMS with an exclusive launch, is to gather data on the cars from a large player base in our own, controlled infrastructure. Which means it takes time and lots of laps to get determine what's needed.
