Noooo! Don't know why, What secondary software are people using for this? Could do with one that allows push button talk I.e not an open channel all the time Shame as I wouldn't have made so many sim racing friends on iracing had it not been for the built in push button talk
see this thread for recent discussion: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/2172-Will-there-be-ingame-voice-chat?highlight=voice
For myself, I have a teamspeak server that is used for league racing and most the other leagues I race in have the same. It is easy enough to set up and allows PTT.
Teamspeak works very well since you can set up any button (even on the wheel or whatever) for the push to talk.
Ventrilo free version is limited to 8 people at once, but if it's all you need, it works great. includes push to talk.
Our league uses Teamspeak 3. There's something called Mumble that is freeware: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/ But rFactor2 can't impliment voice simply because all servers are hosted privately (well that's there reasoning I believe). Personally, I'd love it if they at least made it an option and let server hosts decide whether to use it or not, but that's neither here nor there at this point.
Howdy, Team Speak 3 works great! It's free as long as less than 32 (??) people are using it at any one time. As far as PTT goes. I find it highly annoying when people have an open mic. I usually mute them. Don't need to hear kids, wives, coughing... sneezing... chattering G25s and G27s. I think I made my point on that. Personally I use my left shift paddle to talk. The right one blows the horn of my F3 EVE. Team Speak 3 is on my server, if some of you would like to check it out. F3 Fanatics! GET MOD works IP=197.12.64.212 PW=EVE For what it's worth, Bryan
Well actually, it's free with up to 500 users for non-profit organizations. At least it used to be. All you need to do is get the free license (instructions on how to do that are included with the server download). At least that's how it was when I first started using TS3.
Well now... I don't know how it used to be, but when I went to use their software, I didn't need to get any licence at all. Bryan
That's why you can only have 32 clients. Not that you probably need more, but you could get a free license and have more if you want.
