I searched the forums, but couldn't find anything related to reinstalling an existing instance of rF2. It may be related to my search terms...

That said, I need to uninstall my current instance of rF2 as it's been corrupted. It probably didn't help that I was probably three or four builds behind when I last tried to catch up.

So, any recommendations or pointers to threads that will help me remove the old an install the latest. I had purchased a "lifetime license" and need to know how to go about getting that back as well.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Not sure what you're asking. Just uninstall through control panel, also, delete the folder in Documents if you want to do a fresh install. Then reinstall the latest build + cars/tracks.

As long as you haven't formatted your drive, your activation is still intact. You will be activated as soon as you start it up.

Excellent! Thank you for the information. Where do I find the latest build? Is it the same as the Free Demo Installer found here: http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/ ?

Yes, just underneath the demo. Choose one of the "pre-paid installers".

What is this " documents folder " you speak of ?

I run Windows 7 64bit, I have no other user names on my OS, I never have to run admin rights or anything else wierd.

The only rFactor2 folders I have on C drive are in 2 folders located in my case:

    C:\Users\DurgeDriven\AppData\Roaming\.rFactor
( 3 files, this is your credentials as long as that folder remains intact your rfactor2 will always be automatically activated )

NOTE: The only exception to that is if you change a major component like your network chipset or motherboard ( they are 2 of the 3 IDs forget the other ) ....mmmm I think it is Operating System ............but it is not a hardrive or format )

    C:\Users\DurgeDriven\AppData\Roaming\~MASTEMP
( This contains your mas files if you have made mods )

There is no need to ever uninstall rFactor2.

    1. Backup the 2 folders above ........goes without saying

    2. Back up anything you want from your install, ie: skins, setups, realroad, HDR, mods, etc etc and delete everything in the folder.

    3. Point rFactor2 install to the same folder ( I recommended Lite build always)

rFactor2 folder will run standalone on any hardrive as long as other components are unchanged.

Also no need to reactivate with a format or fresh OS, you just copy and paste the 2 saved folders before you run rFactor2 the first time.
(f you forget to do delete the .rFactor folder in users, replace with saved one and boot launcher again )

The rFactor2 folder in the My Documents folder is part of the standard rF2 install and can be found at C:\Users\YOU_USER_NAME\Documents\rFactor2, it can also be accessed through My Documents -> rFactor2

You don't appear to have a standard Windows 7 installation. There is a documents folder in a standard Windows install. That's what people are saying.

I installed the unstable on an extern drive, than rf2 don't writes anything to the documents folder but i guess if you go by a standard installation where it asks to install rf2 and you didn't change that it writes into the documents folder user specific.

Fine, so just follow me a second ........ I mean you and obviously rfactor users above of 2 years know there is no rfactor2 folders in documents ? okay ?

..........in that case how could anyone possibly think I was talking about the same username/documents folder in the first place ? lol

and then go on to accuse me of not having a " normal" windows.

Makes no sense to me, sorry.

I didn't said something about your windows and i'm sure you know very well what you are doing from what i read all from you on this matter and it looks like people just missunderstood what you where saying, included myself. The advice about the activation is correct. :)

    On a default installation, they're in Documents/rFactor2.
