    Hello!

    I decided to create this little tool for editing the engine sound SFX file in real time. Works with rF1 and rF2 style SFX files.

    [IMG]

    It is currently in still in beta stage, many features are missing and bugs need to be sorted out.
    Basically, what you can do right now, is specify the sound base dir (for example <rFactor folder>/GameData/Sounds) and then open an SFX file of a car. You will be displayed a tachometer and a list of sound samples. You can rev the engine (either automatically or manually) and change the min/max/natural values of the samples. You can also save the result.

    EDIT: New version 0.3: http://www.siimannuk.com/enginesoundeditor-for-rfactor/

    Since I have many things to do and many projects, I'm thinking about releasing the source code (it's a C++/Qt app), perhaps at GitHub or somewhere like that.

    Did you specify the sounds base dir correctly? (e.g. "<rfactor dir>/GameData/Sounds/")

    Same here. Also get the error message. Does the tool itself has to be in an specific folder? Or does the sfx file has to be provided in a special way so the tool can read it?

    What do I need to setup for Accleration-, Decclarationfactor and Idle RPM? Maybe this has something to do with it? (don't think so...)

    EDIT:OK My rF1 Backup works. Tried the rtrainer as I saw that it works in your screenshot. So what is the difference?

    EDIT2: The rTrainer has no sound multis in the sfx. Maybe this? (NO)

    EDIT3: Some other sfx files work. Non ISI files... so it has to be something within the sfx, I guess. Thought about missing infos that are placed in the .rfm file (eg. for the sound directory) but the sfx file directs to the right places...

    EDIT4:Or maybe there is a soundfile missing and thats the error message for it? Or does the program not recognize such stuff?

    EDIT5: I also tried to delete all the unnecessary stuff from the sfx file like "// explanations" etc.. but didn't help.

    WIN#1: It plays the inside sounds. But dunno why. Will have a look what the difference is.

    WIN#2: It loads all sounds except of those:
    (VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_1=2.1,F1_1985\V8\F88V8_IDLE.wav <- also loads, but then)

    VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_2=3.1,F1_1985\V8\F88V8_LOW_EX.wav
    VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_3=3.0,F1_1985\V8\F88V8_MED_EX.wav
    VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_4=3.1,F1_1985\V8\F88V8_HIGH_EX.wav

    Currently the biggest problem with the tool is that it doesn't report much information about what went wrong in case of an error. I'm working on that already.

    Could you please list the SFX files which fail to load and the mod, they're from?

    As you can see it's the 3 outside power files above. The mod is F1 1985 with the motesky sound update. Would it be enough to upload the soundfolder and the sfx?

    I think currently you don't need to upload :) I will see what is going on in these sound sfx files.

    I have uploaded version 0.2, which adds more meaningful error messages and other fixes.
    Updated the link in the first post.

    Hey Some1(Siim Annuk :) ).

    Your tool is absolutely brilliant however there are features that could be fixed and it would be brilliant if you could because i know it's not that difficult to do.

    Whenever you save a new .sfx it adds these spaces in between that causes the sound to be muted in game and its such a time consumer to fix it when i know it's an easy fix.

    Is there another, newer tool than the one @Some1 wrote?
