I think so too. At least that is all I have noticed hearing. And it appears to working fine for me too. One thing I did notice yesterday was that when I join a server and the race is already underway, I hear the spotter reading out lap times of the guys racing. I clicked on different names and seemed to get their lap time, which I though was cool. I was going to continue trying different players, but the race ended before I could confirm much more.
I can hear the spotter clearly with these audio setting (and i have hearing loss pro): Anyone know if the spotter volume is also responsible for the guy who literally seems to shout (for me) at the start of every race "All non essential personal, leave the grid now"?
Ahh excellent I was just about to ask someone who had it working to post their settings because I'm getting nothing atm. Pretty sure that race start announcement is nothing to do with the spotter though as I have that working ok. Edit:- nope not a dicky bird ...well that's not strictly true there are birds but no spotter.
The "all none essential personal" geezer only works online for me!! I will try those setups and post back
are you installing full build releases with no overwrites, or are you installing with updates over previous updates? has to be a reason some hear the spotter, and others hear nothing. those are track commentary, not the same as spotter sounds.
I would like to wrap duct tape around the "all none essential personal" announcement guy!!!! Anyone know how I can lower or better yet mute his trap? I have to rip my headphones off my head each time i expect him to say those seriously loud words.
In your PLR file.... Code: [ Sound Options ] Net Race Warning="Secondary\racestart.wav" // Signal that multiplayer game has moved to race session (empty this if you don't want the game to automatically take window focus)
in rf1 we could just delete the annoying ambient sounds... in rf2, they are packaged in a mas file now, in core/sounds...mas not sure if editing those mas files will cause a mismatch, worth testing if it bothers someone that much.
Just for the record, I have been adding the updates, not doing fresh installs. Oh and just incase someone hasn't read all the post, spotter is working for me.
Woot i tried dr r1ppers settings and i have the laptimes now +1 for dr r1pper, I also tried with 5.1 surround settings and it works, set my center speaker louder than the others and even better. Was it worth the effort i'm not sure after hearing his voice lol. But at least i know it works.
Lol, good question. I think it's worth it in practice, but then again if you have the LCD display set to sector time page, then yeah it's kinda pointless. For anyone else who also finds the volume is TOO HIGH for the announcement "All non essential personal leave the grid now" at the start of every mp race, here is a lowered volume copy of the audio file: http://www.filehost.ws/wycakcv3d0nq if you don't want to delete it. Drop the audio file it into :\rFactor2\ModDev\Sounds\Secondary
We need separate sound settings for spotter, tires, wind and then one for other effects like horn, etc.
