I never noticed the driver animations before VR because I always keep them off but yeah in VR they need a little work, a twitch when shifting with paddles would be a good start.

Virtual hand going to shifter I find very distracting in VR never moves same as real hand

If it comes (I hope is doesn't then we much be able to turn off )

After more testing i have done the main problem i have got now is stutter. I can deal with bad resolution maybe but stutters kills the lap times really
I test Sebring and Laguna seca the tracks my next races are and it stutters at some places .
I lower graphics to minimum and ppd 1.5 but it does not help .
No matter what graphics set i run in the game it stutters in the same spots.
I guess that just track not optimized then .
I might go back to my triples for those races still and wait for next updates.

@Pablo11 , I overcame the stutter by locking the game at 45fps ASW using the Oculus Tray Tool. Right now it is very difficult for my specs to run a decent sized grid with some graphical detail and aliasing at 90fps with the S397/IS standard content, yet alone mods. I have now tested a variety of DX11 contents and some not updated content and am happy with settling for a constant smooth 45fps as the AUTO option just creates too much inconsistency and leads to stutters. I've now actually subscribed to Sebring & Mid-Ohio to see if it remains stable and smooth with these tracks. I'll probably test tomorrow now and will let you know.

I am very satisfied with ASW locked at 45.

I have high spec system, getting brilliant results but only really using official optimised content + conservative setting , 6 to 8 AI MAX

Does anybody know if is possible to move the rFactor HUD further away?

I think it is too close to the eyes, and sometimes it is a little bit annoying to move the focus from the track to the hud boxes:

I think it is more confortable at the distance that the blackboxes are in iRacing:

At that distance, you don't have to change your eye focus to move your vision from the track to the HUD.

Note that I mean distance to the hud controls. Not the size or distribution of them.

People need to understand the opening post is one person's perspective and NOT the Holy Grail for VR settings. I've been asked about this thread a few times when people have asked me questions, I responded with "use the opening post & thread for tips but find your own settings that suit your own needs".

The most common one is "why only 6 AI?" - that needs amending to make it perfectly clear that is your preference @Adrianstealth as I and others like to run with a lot more (and we can do so with good fps I might add).

It's good that we have this thread, but please be careful not to mislead others, thanks.

I agree, the car selection has a big effect. I have been running a full grid with 25 AI using the F1 1988 mod with a i7-5820K and 1080 (not Ti) and the performance never dips. This is with post processing at low and shadows at medium, most other things on high.

The HUD's are probably going to be reworked as part of a new UI, but there are couple of things you can do. Try different HUDs in Options, they are a bit different, you might prefer one or another. Also, if you are racing single player, I find it super handy to have pause button on the wheel, especially in VR. That way, you can pause and make adjustments (or check data) without stress. I also have button to hide HUDs.

MarcG -I was hoping that some would understand that they have to be conservative as AI does have a bearing,
I'll amend it anyhow with a point that this is how I personally conserve PC resource for a fluid vr experience, cheers for this feedback & comments

EDIT : editing of first post done to AI section

I think us VR users are looking forward to the new UI the most

be great to have replays again, the on screen whilst driving huds I'm guessing will at least be re-sizable and perhaps moveable too

    Thank you!

One of the things I've tried is to edit the hud in DevMode to change the position and size of the controls, but that didn't worked for me, as the hud elements are still "too close to your face".

My 2 cents - quite happy with current UI and would rather have them work on fundamental bugs.
