Speaking of IMSA, I need to grab a reference pic while I'm there. Once I get that, the last 2022 DPI (I don't think it has been done yet) will be complete
Has anybody else got issues with MAS skin packs that are just placed in the latest vehicle folder? This method worked fine until today, now my previously working skins are missing from the car selection screen. Their AI classes filters are still there and you can race against them but you can't drive them yourself. Its as if a new update has made it so you can only select vehicles that are installed as a single component.
Quick uneducated question... Is it possible to create a team car and not only have your alt skin working but also icons? For instance... I want to base a custom car on the 95 Aston Martin Racing car - I am able to get the skin working in the spinner and on a track/server... But is it also possible to have my own icons showing so I'm not clicking on a yellow, stock 95 AMR car anymore?
You would have to create a new set of icons. There is a tool, although I'm not sure how simple it is, that is on @redapg pages. http://meetme.bplaced.net/rF2_onlineTools/ The icon generator is in the 2nd section titled GENERAL.
Yes, yes, yes Dave... The icons are created... I'm asking if it's possible to make use of them on official DLC-content, using the "create team car" function, where a .rcd is created etc.
It's only possible have the icons is when using the mas file method and placing the mas file in the highest numbered folder for the car your trying to create the skin for. Hope this may be of help.
Ensure you have the mas files in the highest numbered folder for the particular car your having problems with. Also in the veh file within the mas file, the line for sound has changed in the latest updated cars, this will cause the skins not to work if your skins older versions. The line should look like this. Sounds=_______-snd.json The blank area is the car description eg. AMV_GTE Hope this may be of help.
All this will require a repack of the rfcmp, wouldn't it? Because changing the teams-mas would break the dynamic with the .mft-file, right?
A rfcmp file is not required. Just create a mas file for your skin and drop it into the highest numbered folder for the car. You can do it as individual mas file for each skin or create just one mas file for all your skins both, will work.
Aston Martin GTE Skins. (9-skins). These are all my Aston Martin skins updated to the latest version. These will only work with the latest version of the car. Do not install if you are still using the older version. https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/aston-martin-gte-skins-9-skins.53260/
They are in the highest numbered folder and they worked perfectly until a few days ago. I am aware of the need to change the sound line as I was making people aware of it a few weeks ago, but these are GT3 skins and none of those cars have the new sound json's so they continue to use the sfx file. Just placing the MAS file in the highest numbered folder does not work anymore. rF2 will read the classes for the AI filter and you can race against them but you can not select them in the vehicle selection screen anymore.
I don't think you can use icons on vehicles that use .rcd files as they are 'virtual rides' which are just referencing the original livery. You need to use the .veh method to use icons.
I'm fully up to date with all the updates from S397 and all my GT3 mas file skins work perfectly so I think you are incorrect in that it no longer works by put them in the highest number folder in the installed fold for the particular car. I agree the the sound line in the veh file does not need to be altered for the GT3 cars, I was referring to the GTE cars because Bjorn was asking about the GTE Aston Martin which does need to be altered. I can not think of a reason why your GT3 skins no longer work if you haven't changed any thing. I would check your location and the veh files.
I think I have found the issue. My veh files category line looked like this Category="McLaren, McLaren 720S GT3, IMSA 2022" This doesn't work for me anymore because it has a third level. If I remove "IMSA 2022" it works properly again. What's weird is that this third level still works for the USF2000 and Enduro Racers Alpine A110. Could anybody confirm that their skins don't work if they use more than two category levels? I am using the latest Release Candidate build.
I did some more testing and I found that the following is true, Category="McLaren, McLaren 720S GT3, IMSA 2022" DOEN'T WORK Category="McLaren, MCLAREN 720S GT3, IMSA 2022" DOES WORK (but adds a new category under Mclaren) Category="McLaren,McLaren 720S GT3,IMSA 2022" DOES WORK (but adds a new category under Mclaren) Weird and confusing. My guess its something related to the "McLaren 720S GT3" level as changing that fixes it but obviously adds it to a new sub-category.
Glad you found the problem. Try putting it in the Classes line instead of Category line, may work not sure though. I only use the default classes and categories for my skins. Hope this helps.
PREMA Racing livery for the Oreca 07. I hope it's good enough! https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/prema-racing-elms-2022-lmp2-oreca-07-09.53351/
