SOLVED Pimax 5k+ double images

I am a new user and have done a few practice laps using my setup using my monitor. However, I want to now use the Pimax 5k+ I purchased during the Black Friday sales. I am using the PiTool 197 driver. When I start rFactor I get two curved "theatre" type images slightly overlapping. I have tried changing the IPD but it makes no difference. I have been to the config menu and picked HMD & mirror. In PiTool I have tried all combinations of Vive compatibility etc. Nothing seems to change these two menu images. Any advice?

Thank you, it's fixed now. I have included some screenshots to help other VR users. The file needing to be edited is the player.json file. What needs to be changed is highlighted in the third image
