Are the physics of rF2 sufficiently sophisticated to simulate well the integral transmissions (AWD) according to you Marco / @Slow Motion ?
No, not at all. I sent long time ago all they needed for improving the code and also the patented suspension system developed by Mr. Palatov with the direct contact to develop everything in rFactor 2, but once again only words since years
Thank you for this frank, direct and honest response. I really feel that the physics engine area, which is rF2's asset and which is so dear to us, has not been S397's priority for 4 years. I say can be anything because I do not have, apart from rF2, a great knowledge of other simulations (far from it), but if the ACC editor is having fun making an Assetto Corsa 2, with all the advantages of first Assetto improved, the benefits of ACC, and the improved ACC physics engine.... I believe in this case rF2 is instantly and permanently dead. In this specific case, the only chance for rF2 is to continue to be one step ahead of the physics engine. I'm not saying that S397's rF2 priorities should be the same as mine, but I'm really having trouble following their strategic thinking of the past 4 years. We don't even have a high quality official FWD or AWD or street car, it's crazy ! Brief end of the off topic.
The devs probably have the same trouble while following the orders lol Nobody understands what is being done with rf2, what is the plan, etc. Many "top users" (modders and/or people with a lot of knowledge) have given up trying to understand or help. Better just do the same, enjoy what is there, expect nothing. How the heck you turn down patented systems by the car maker himself is beyond me.
@Marcel Offermans Allowing SlowMotion to finalize the mod physics (IF THEY WANT) and more generally develop the physics engine of rF2 on the AWD aspect (and maybe also FWD ?) might be IMO a good idea, if S397 has the time.
Chris noted that long time ago I forgot to update nightlight for 2015 dash... so it is time to update these files and also the old UI icons, as well to add the multitude of icons for the new UI. Then, why don't update at least the 2018 model to the PBR, remaking the skins in hires and adding some more? IRL the latest changes are dated 2018, so the mod is still perfect on physics side, just a quick refresh of the HDV to add few code lines that were developed recently also if do not affect the behaviour of the mod itself. A preview of some new car for the 2018 custom class
New build 2.0 is available and first post has been updated, bringing to you: - fixed dash nightlight for 2015 dash - updated all 2018 classes to IBL/PBR - updated all 2018 classes to HiRes skins - added several new cars into the 2018 classes - new look for rearwing of 2018 HILLCLIMB class - replaced old ui icons and added new web ui icons (and unfortunately the size of the mod changes from 370Mb to 702Mb...) - new public BODY template for 2018 classes and new public RWING template for HILLCLIMB class and: - updated Talent and improved a little AI behaviour - fixed diskglow for HILLCLIMB class - improved scratches quality and sensitivity for damageable items - new TVCockpit POV
first post has been updated Build 2.01 (January 13th, 2022): - tuned driver's suit for new rF2 rain functionality
first post has been updated with build 2.03 for fixing black rain on certain tracks, due to wrong rF2 code
first post has been updated to Build 2.04, November 06th 2023: - fixed warning led due to code change by S397
